How famous is Lance Armstrong? - Vanity
Posted on 07/30/2005 9:30:36 AM PDT by FractalMan
I was reading an article about Lance's 7th Tour de France victory and realized that he is so famous that if this question was asked, I suspect the majority of people would say "Lance Armstrong". What person do you think of when I say "Yellow". Who else owns a primary color today? Yellow jersey and $85M to cancer research and care of patients in the form of yellow bracelets. Thank you Lance, well done! What a contrast with the likes of Latrell Sprewel.

I usually think of Big Bird! Then again, I do have a 3-year old at home.

I think he's a fad, and two years from now nobody will care who he is, and nobody on FR will care about the Tour de France.

I, honestly, don't think he'll retire.
I just don't see him doing so...until he loses the tour de France.

Perhaps you are not aware of the LIVESTRONG bracelets everyones been wearing for over a year now.
People donated money to his foundation and received a yellow rubber bracelet to wear as a symbol for the fight against cancer.

But, but Latrell got all them kids to support.

Okay then, so Lance didn't donate 85 mill.

I just read a survey made of the largest legends in Norwegian sport about who was the greatest athlete of all time.
The overwhelming majority answered Lance Armstrong.
Well done.

So Lance raised 85 mil, not donated it personally. I think what he has done is a wonderful thing compared to many famous athletes.

That's right!
But without him, that 85 million would have been spent on chewing gum.

"Perhaps you are not aware of the LIVESTRONG bracelets everyones been wearing for over a year now..." I thought they were flea collars. Go figure. I don't wear bracelets (especially rubber ones), but I have donated to cancer research.
