Ebola Recombinant Linked to Mystery Illness in Sichuan China?

Recombinomics Commentary

July 30, 2005

D: "It's alright. We ran tests on those samples and isolated the SZ77++A3231 virus."

I: "What is this SZ77++A3231 virus?"

D: "This is a strain of the Ebola virus."

I: "Would you like to comment about it?"

D: "It's rather impossible to totally explain it."

I: "I can understand so, but why is the term "less-infectious" always affixed to our version of the Ebola virus?"

D: "There are 2 reasons for doing so. First, to reduce panic among the people should it ever leak. And second, the Ebola virus has evolved in China. Re-combination has been detected. Most prominently at the portion which determines its effect on humans (very technical description, I can't describe it. sorry.). Also, abrupt breaks in the sequencing were detected, leading to changes in the incubation period. (Or possibly "changes in the incubation period were detected")

I: "How were these viruses classified then? / Could you elaborate more about the various strains?"

D: "Previously, strains of Ebola in China always had the EBO prefix. Subsequently following information leaks, the classification method was changed. We stopped using the EBO prefix. Instead, coupled with the discovery that the virus had become more virulent and lethal, we re-named the strains according to the placed where they were first discovered. For example, the strain in June became the SZ77++A3231. Sometimes, we don't even use their place of discovery, instead directly naming it the ++A3231."

I: "In that way, the Ebola virus wouldn't even be brought into the picture."

D: "Precisely, viruses such as the Ebola are national secrets."

The above comments by a physician involved in testng samples from patients in the mysterious swine outbreak in Sichuan indicate that one of the agents isolated is a recombinant Ebola virus originally isolated from Shenzen.  Prior reports had listed the names and characteristics of various Ebola isolates and EB-SZ-277 was capable of infecting birds.  SZ277++A3231 is a recombinant version of SZ-277 isolated from a patient.  The discussion indicates China has an active Ebola project and the virus is rapidly evolving via recombination. It was not clear from earlier reports if the agent was isolated and sequenced, but this interview leaves little doubt that both isolation and sequencing of Ebola is quite active.
It is unclear if the recombination is related to the region of identity between Ebola and H5N1. Ebola is considered a state secret, so there are no reports of the virus or availability of virus or sequences.

The interview also indicates that the streptococcus suis is not the cause of the illness.  It is present in pigs and is merely activated by infectious agents, which include Ebola, plague, and an un-named virus which is considered "dangerous".  The emphasis is on the bacteria because it can produce similar symptoms.  The symptoms of the patients match pandemic flu of 1918, and H5N1 can produce such symptoms.

The interview, if accurate, would support the role of agents other than be bacteria, in the spread on prgression of the illness.  streptococcus Suis does not produce the high case fatality rate, and can be treated with antibiotics, as can plague.  The high case fatality rate also supports the involvement of a virus and the proximity to Qinghai Lake keeps H5N1bird flu and migratory birds on the short list of explanations for the raid spread of the fatal disease that is resistant to antibiotic treatment.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but is it possible that the chinese have developed a vaccine for "said" bioweapon. If they had one that worked could'nt they have a mass innoculation of their population before an all out bio-attack on the US? Like I said before they are germany circa 1930's but this time the chinese think they are the supreme race and want to kill everyone else in their way. Oh and if they do try to ethnically cleanse the earth for the chinese to rule. I say we nuke the bastards to hell and back.

Try to imagine yourself with absolute power, little or no accountability - and the ability to bribe your way out of trouble if necessary - and over a billion slaves at your disposal. Do this for several generations. Now open your eyes.

See what I mean? As Americans, we can't comprehend their "logic". It isn't logical, and it defies human nature.

(A note for heartburn/ulcer sufferers: Aloe vera Gel is a very good cure/treatment. Cured an ulcer with it (ulcer started as something resembling heartburn). Freepmail me if you want more info on how to do it.)

Thanks, I hadn't tried that.

I just started taking Colostrum for it - which to me is a wonder drug at this point. (Plus it's great for your immune system.)

Please don't tell me you have to drink the Aloe gel.

I use that prilosec OTC stuff for heartburn. Works good so far, but I have heard you can get resistant to it.

Just a couple of tablespoons three times a day, with a pinch of turmeric (or powdered ginger) and a little apple juice or other juice to help it down. It's relatively tasteless. It started easing the pain within a day or two.

My ulcer was the kind where I was curled up on the floor in a fetal position whethere I ate or not.

BTW, I became an alcholic at a *very* young age. I wonder if there's any connection.

Ethnicity - lily white.

I remember when you posted this article. About how the Chinese government was going into peoples homes and pulling them out. That worried me then, this is even more worrisome.

Your story

I used that for some time as well, then went to merely mixing baking soda and water as necessary. The Prilosec had become a daily pill.

Colostrum (dried bovine colostrum) is rather amazing - especially if taken with CoQ10. I'll FReepmail you with my results so far.

Thanks - you see what I mean about them? We have advanced beyond them culturally so far that it is hard to place a date on their cultural development any longer.

I need vastly more proof than a vague interview, and I hope that this some kind of right wing fantasy. If it isn't, the Chinese are more insane than previously thought. A nuclear bomb will kill several hundred thousand to maybe a million, but a lethal category 4 illness, well, has anyone seen the Twelve Monkeys or The Stand. A Category 4 disease is 90 plus percent communicable and 90 plus percent fatal. These diseases are the top of the evolutionary chart, and some of them have exist in one form or another for hundreds of millions of years. From time to time, I sound a bit apocalyptic, but I am not over playing this. A few vials of these kinds of biological agent spread over a few dozen cities, before anyone could react it might be game over. Say hello to Captain Tripps.

"Did SARS kill any caucasians? Or was it "Asian only"?

I thought some caucasian hospital workers in Toronto got it. My company wanted me and my team to travel to Toronto on business while this was going on. We had a small mutiny and wouldn't go.

Moreover, H5N1 and Ebola have a region of sequence identity between HA and spike genes.

That is interesting.

Try this on for size then: A very high number of people in the particular area of China this Ebola was discovered in are known to be carriers or have been infected with H5N1. Influenza has a strong capability for splicing in odd bits of RNA, making it an aggressive mutator -- it throws around lots of RNA fragments of itself. Someone carrying H5N1 also contracted Ebola, and since they are both neg RNA type viruses, they swapped a bit of genetic material.

Given the locale overlap, this would seem like the most probable scenario, rather than the virus being engineered like this. That would still be a relatively novel event but not improbable, and the prevalence of both in the same location makes it somewhat plausible.

The problem with heartburn may be caused by Gall stones. American Indians apparently have a genetic tendency to developing them. In one tribe somewhere in the southwest something like 60% of anyone over 50 has them. You may want to have that checked out by your doctor.

We get Sickle Cell Anemia more than other ethnic groups. I don't know if that's the same thing, though.

Nope that's a genetic disease.

Having two Sickle Cell genes equals Sickle Cell Anemia.

Having one Sickle Cell gene equals near immunity to malaria, a very handy thing for a sub-sahara african!
