Moorhead, MN -- A controversial Kansas church plans to picket the funeral of a North Carolina-based marine who was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq.

A church attorney says ten members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, plan to picket before the Camp Lejeune Marine's funeral in Moorhead, Minnesota.

The church blames the US government for a bomb that exploded on its compound in 1995.

The Westboro Baptist Church says it was bombed to stop its anti-gay preaching.

Church members say they protest at soldiers funerals to tie the deaths to the church bombing.

He's probably a self-loathing homosexual himself. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

These people are your cherry democrats. The manner of attending to such swine it to "bleep" them with barbed wire.

Why not get their names and photos and show up at their door demonstrating whatever flips their switch.

No "church" would "protest" at a funeral. These are Leftists maggots, nothing more. They should have the shit beaten out of them, on a daily basis, until they expire.

You nailed it. Funerals are sacrosanct. I would no more defend a protest at a liberals funeral. This is pathetic.

The very idea of picketing a Christian funeral by a 'self proclaimed' Christian is heretical to say the least.

Fred Phelps is a single issue obsessive compulsive who is in dire need of mental health intervention.

One of the first rights Christians in ancient Rome fought for was the right to bury their dead in peace.

The fact that this is the funeral of a soldier pushes Phelps' obsession to quite another level.

I'm wondering where they get the money to traipse all over the country and dishonor American soldiers and their grieving families?

I hope everyone in town shows up to line the streets to protect the family from the hatred that Phelps and his group will be spewing.

"Church members say they protest at soldiers funerals to tie the deaths to the church bombing."

What an utterly reprehensible lack of respect and selfish disregard for the feelings of the loved ones and friends of our fallen soldiers. How can they possibly imagine that they can gain anything positive from this type of behavior?

"The church blames the US government for a bomb that exploded on its compound in 1995."

No matter the actual structure, anyone who calls their property a "compound" is likely begging to get bombed in some fashion.

No real Christian would picket a FUNERAL. That soldier's FAMILY didn't explode a bomb at their psychotic church! This is DISPICABLE! May his family have strength and peace, knowing their son is in the arms of God.

"phelps said he was protesting the funerals because we are a nation of fags and since fags bombed his church that we deserve to have our soldiers killed."

Oh cut me a break, he's out to discredit Christianity.

A local radio guy spoke with them, first dad and then one of the daughters, and that bunch is nuttier than a pecan pie. Very sad for the service members' families when this group shows up.
