During my military career I lived , worked and made my own observations in many different countries in SW and SE Asia, Europe, Far East etc as well as other bases around the world. After such observations and discussions with the locals while living on the economy in Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Oman I am of the opinion that Islam is a cult.....not a religion.
Another way to look things is this:
Over the last 20 years:
# bombings committed by Muslims =
# bombings committed by Christians =
# bombings committed by Buddhists =
# bombings committed by Hindus =
Let's put some numbers to these entries and then I invite everyone to de-B.S. themselves and put things into perspective. Not all Muslims are terrorists, of course not. But, damn near all terrorists are Muslims.
Irrelevant to my point.
"Didn't the guy who started the Mormon church receive special instructions from God, and didn't he have multiple wives?"
There are a lot of similarities. Also in their repeated 'revelations'."
What happened was, when the Mormon settlers of Utah got tired of fighting the Indians and wanted the protection of the U.S. Army, their pleas for statehood would not be met until the U.S. extracted an agreement that they would discontinue the practice of polygamy. Suddenly, one of their ruling elders had a NEW revelation! Polygamy was NOW not favored by God! What a coincidence! Bingo! Statehood!
It's also true that the Mormon church, although they believe in a sort of dhimmitude for blacks and women within their ranks, are not a warrior cult like Islam. Mormons have added positively to the U.S. because they live as social conservatives who reject drinking, smoking and lewdness and believe in good money management in families and communities. The family-friendly Marriott hotel global empire was built by a Mormon family from Washington, DC, who started with a single root beer shop in 1927. While dominant in Utah politics, Mormons in the rest of the U.S. co-exist peacefully with others (as opposed to Islam...).
Today, however, the rebellion against social conservatism -- from radical Islamists to Marxist university professors to Christ-abandoning European sophisticates to Chinese communists willing to make common cause against U.S. hegemony -- is tipped heavily against the conservatives. That is why the War on Terror must recognize the urgent need to win hearts and minds. I am joyful at the news that Bush's top communicator, Karen Hughes, will be Number Two in the State Department.
Yeah, uh-huh. Quite the opposite of the New Testament, eh?
Another one of THOSE articles ... IF (and I use that word with a full understanding of its weight) there is such a thing as a "good" Muslim, then they're going to have to shed any association with the lunatic fringe or they're going to fall beside them. However, I believe in decent Muslims like I believe in the Tooth Fairy's unicorn.
2nd Squantos' comments.
I've met SLB, he lives in the same town as my Mom and In-Laws. He's one of the good guys. This is from his small-town newspaper in semi-rural Kentucky, and the point in posting would be to show the penetration we're seeing into America.
And we (the rest of the world) are now doing what we are doing because we (the rest of the entire world) have conflicts with your government-IE..eyeslime!
Sura 9:5 of the Koran, [S]lay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush.
AntiSura9:5 of the "antiqueeran" SLay the moohamheadians wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush!

"Lunat is a soft-spoken man, a devoted follower of Allah with a quick and vibrant smile and a message of peace and devotion. 'One fundamental thing is to follow the laws of the land you live in. That is especially true in America. True Muslims believe in justice and equality among men.'
but...
"According to "al-Taqiyya", or "Concealing or disguising one's true beliefs", a Muslim can pretend to befriend infidels in order to hide his true motives. As the Prophet said: 'he who keeps secrets shall soon attain his objectives."
The way imams decided which verses are to be used is that the last revelations and sayings are the ones to be used no matter what the others say. The violent verses came after most of the peaceful revelations and are to be seen as the final word of Mo.
but will this be desplayed or put in the racks in the back of the stores or wherever non-pc books end up
That photo is an obvious fake. Not even a good effort with Photoshop. The mother/son were obviously photoed in artificial light and then pasted/feathered into a naturally lit beach scene. Was it intended for humor?
Love that Churchillian summary of the merits of Islam. It's a keeper!
I pray that more people awaken to the farce that is Islam. Murderous, ignorant and damned is no way to go through life. (apologies to Animal House)

A local FOX TV news program ran pictures of Osama bin Laden for weeks after 9-11, dressed in white, and standing in soft, glowing sunshine with a slight smile on his face. He looked so mild mannered.
