A letter to the editor - August 3, 2005
Dear Editor:
Nearly two years ago George Bush Jr.'s top adviser, Karl "The Hatchet" Rove, outed a CIA operative by blabbing to newsman Robert Novak. It was a vintage Rove maneuver: slander, discredit, smear and out, if necessary, anyone who dared to challenge Bush about his real motives during his march to war.
And Valerie Plame's husband had done just that by telling a differing version of the Bush truth. Bush immediately told the nation that "anyone having anything to do with the outing of Plame will not be a part of this administration."
That was vintage Bush. He jumped up on his high horse and rode sanctimoniously into the limelight. Well, here we are two years later, and now that the heat is turned up on Rove, Bush is backpedaling and changing his criteria for firing by saying "anyone who broke the law" in the Plame outing will be fired. He seems to have raised the bar just enough for Rove to crawl under it.
Bush Sr. had the same problem with Rove when he was president, outing who he (Rove) viewed as enemies of the state. Bush Sr. had the good sense and integrity to fire Rove. Apparently Bush Jr. is not burdened with those same attributes.
It's a shame that our country's secret warriors on terror have to be so mistreated and endangered by the very people they serve and protect. Rove is as low of a bottom feeder as there can be, but George Junior sure is enthralled with him. I guess Rove is just a mere reflection of the character of those he serves.
We can and should do better. Much better. But as sad as that is, it is equally scary to think that after two years of investigating a handful of White House insiders to determine "who leaked," we still don't know the facts. Are these the same administration officials we signed over our rights (Patriot Act) in order for them to do the investigations to keep us safe from terrorists? Let's hope not.
Do the right thing, George, for once, and give Rove the boot.

seems that way - though perhaps "excrescence" or "metastasic clot" would be a more accurate descriptor than "escapee"

Mr Oliver? If you know of something that proves that Rove did this, should you not be testifying?

I just have one question:
At what point does it become libelous to state the someone actually did something.

Who the F*** cares about a Letter to the Editor at some podunk paper by some unknown? Why even dignify it by making it the topic of a thread?

Bush immediately told the nation that "anyone having anything to do with the outing of Plame will not be a part of this administration."Is this a BS quote?
I've never read or heard the "outing of Plame" part of the quote...the rest I have heard.
Is this guy embellishing the actual quote?

Gee, using this logic, Clinton should have just resigned. I thought that people were innocent until proven guilty. Unless one is a Republican, of course.

Isn't it funny how Leftists always want to give terrorists the benefit of a doubt, but have already charged, tried and convicted Karl Rove without chance of reprieve?
That sure as hell says a lot about where the Left's loyalties lie, by God.

Bush immediately told the nation that "anyone having anything to do with the outing of Plame will not be a part of this administration." That's odd... I can't find that quote anywhere. I wonder why he couldn't make his point with something Bush actually said?

Bush can't fire Rove. Don't you remember that the liberals said Rove is the Boss and runs the white house. Can't fire the boss.
