Hiroshima - Secret US Film - On TV 8/6
Knight Ridder

Posted on 08/06/2005 8:09:15 AM PDT by aShepard

Saturday August 6, the Sundance Cable Channel will be showing "Original Child Bomb". This hour long film is from the top secret compilation of the US Government filmed aftermath of Hiroshima, which was kept out of the public's viewing for decades.

"The young soldiers who shot the film in Hiroshima and Nagasaki less than a month after the dawn of the atomic age were unprepared for what they found."

" 'It was to me the most horrendous, terrifying thing that I had ever seen,'camera operator Herbert Sussan, who's now deceased, said in a 1983 interview with the British Broadcasting Corp."

"The nine hours of film, shot in color, captured horrifying scenes of destruction and human suffering, including a woman with the pattern of her dress burned into her back and the shadows of vaporized civilians burned into walls."

Sounds like this one is to record only, as the young and squeamish should not watch.

It's on at 8PM eastern.

What kind of Leftist sicko shows this at a time when children could be watching? This is a shameless attempt to influence our kids.

If there was any justice in this world, China would declare today a national holiday.

Read "The Rape of Nanking" and then multiply it by 100.

They should air this much later--as said, too much for kids.

Also, if it is not a staged movie, then it is the truth of what happened, if it is from September 1945. I don't have any fear seeing it, as uncomfortable or horrendous as it might be. I always want the truth, the whole truth.

How about to balance the movie some shots of the Bataan death march, or the rape of Nanking's, or the mancuharian bio weapons lab.

Yep! "War is hell" If you start a war you have to understand that you may be signing your own death certificate.

Japan gambled and Japan lost!

Next.

You're lucky...that means you have one less liberal biased viewing to fast select through.

A lot of ex-military guys will have seen this already.

Sure there were casualties. I still ask, though, what makes the casualties of a nuclear blast worse than other casualties?

I feel the same way.

Rape of Nanking was really bad. Japanese were horrible.

The Chinese themselves, though, were ten times worse in what they did to their own nation after the war ended and Japan was removed from their country.

Agreed, in a separate movie. This one is about the effects pertaining to the detonation of nuclear weapons.

The Rape of Nanking

"Between December 1937 and March 1938 at least 369,366 Chinese civilians and prisoners of war were slaughtered by the invading troops. An estimated 80,000 women and girls were raped; many of them were then mutilated or murdered."

I'm sure this is hype. The new archive film is probably true enough, but a teaser. This sort of documentary has been around for a long time.

I'm not saying it is not worth watching. But I doubt it will be anything new and will have a heaping dollop of liberal bias and worldview.
