The president is never on vacation, regardless of his geographic location.

"Clinton wasn't always working when he was in the Oval Office."

That depends on your definition of the word working."

I would rather have a President that's physically fit (as Bush is) and mentally healthy enough to know we ALL need "down time" than have anyone like that creepy Clinton in office again.

The MSM will never, EVER understand the Cowboy Mentality, anyway. They don't understand anyone that lives in "Flyover Country," either. I get it, and I'm a D@mn Yankee fer Pete's Sake. ;)

How do you know Clinton had an affair with Barbara Streisand? I heard that he had affairs with Hollywood actresses, but I never heard anything about Streisand. You would think that he could do better....

Bush's "record number of vacations" for a president.

Was there a reference to the statistics for this comment? I didn't see it.

Last I read, they were counting Bush's week-ends at Camp David as "vacations". clintoon almost never went there - he hated it, because it is secluded. There's nothing to do there except work, exercise, and spend time with family and invited friends - and even billy didn't dare invite interns.

Any FReepers know first hand of some of these trips.

My Bro in Law says he was on several C-130 runs hauling "party supplies" around the globe for these.

You're right. Sounds like Monica did all the work.

Billy Jeff would tell you he was "doing the people's business".

I rather think he was just "doing the people".

We would be better off today if Clinton had taken vacation 365 days per year over the entire duration of his presidential term.

Presidents are on the job and doing many official duties 365 days a year, no matter where they are. The entire business about "presidential vacations" is complete Hollywood style nonsense and simply done to gin up interest with the readers.

Klintoon is a POS and will always be a POS, just like his commie wife.

The klintoons did more in 8 years to harm America than 100 Hydrogen bombs.

Klintoon is a commie just like his dead mommie who murdered patients as a nurse. NSNR

Don't forget the tax payer paid vacation by Hitlery and Chelsea to Vietnam.

I thought they went to Africa and China but maybe you remember better. I think there was another trip too. They cost millions by the time they flew all the staff and Hillary gang on these excursions. In fact, there were many tens of millions spent flying the Clinton crowd around on stupid junkets. Over 8 years, it was probably in the hundreds of millions. Wasn't there one big trip the Clinton bunch took that cost taxpayers something like $20 - $30 million?

Bush doesn't take such jaunts. Nor do Laura and the twins. Nor do the Cheney's.

There's no basis for these articles. The Bush White House has faults but excessive travel and vacation time aren't justified.

Actually, Laura and one of the twins went to Europe. I think it was Barbara, and she wore a gene skirt to meet Queen Elizabeth.

Anyway, I think traveling is something the President has to do.

"LOL...what a joke...trailer trash hillbillies...lived off the government almost all their adult lives...they didn't even own a home...their home was the WH...so between the WH and Camp David...both of these creeps took plenty of time off..."

For awhile the joke was "whats the diff between the trailer trash in the WH and Dan and Roseanne Conner?"

Dan and Roseanne have a mortgage.

I will try answer all the points raised thus far with this one response. Try.

I am not criticizing Bush for his "breaks." The last few days, the MSM has been stating that Bush has taken more "vacations" than any other president.

Apparently, not everyone read the very brief copy beyond the headline. The points were: even if Bush is in Texas, he is never "unwired" from any necessary communications system, as they've got it all on the ground there. Also, his breaks are earned breaks, whereas Clinton, apparently, showed up to work at least once a week and said, "Road trip!" and just took off for people and places he'd never seen, going first class and then some, and not giving a damn what the trips cost. (On the other four days of the week, he showed up at work and said, "Toga party!").

And I also pointed out the hypocrisy of just saying Bush has taken so many "vacations," when there is no context given (i.e., his short breaks versus Bill's Grand And Expensive Adventures), and urged Freepers to point this out to any media contacts they have, because our president is again getting smeared in the unique oblique fashion that the MSM has devised for him (hammer him on the NUMBER of vacations, without explaining any fine points, thus sending the message to much of the public that he is not just a do-nothing, but that he doesn't really care).

For those of you who get it, thank you.

For those of you who don't...please go back and re-read.

I know women who spend a significant amount of time analyzing Hillary's plastic surgery. They trace the growth of her chin from Wellesley and Yale, where it is recessed and quavering, to the Senate race, where it is out there and strong. They insist there's been substantial realignment of the axial balance, too: the breaking of the jawbone, the peeling-back of the skin and rearranging of the muscles, which creates a finer symmetry. --Michael Wolff, Hillary's Nixon Problem

Aside: David Duke required a similar makeover.--Mia T, HILLARY IS NIXON-PLUS part 1BEWARE THE SYNERGY

I have no idea if Hillary has had such facial surgery.--Michael Wolff

Aside: Has the author really missed missus clinton's most recent surgery? Precisely, in 1999, as much a response to public knowledge of Monica as tidying up for her Senate run. Did the author actually fall for hillary's "back problem" feint that kept her, conveniently, at arm's length during the healing period, but oddly, camel-mounted globetrotting with Chelsea--hijabed to the hilt to hide the post-op swelling--jet-setting... recuperating en passant. On the public dime, no less.--Mia T

BEWARE THE SYNERGY

Nixonian paranoia and fascistic mindset combine with
clintonian megalomania, ineptitude and, most important,
easy betrayal of America
to make hillary clinton deadly dangerous for us all.

One is inevitably reminded of the quite unbelievable image of the president of the United States on the phone with a congressman discussing Bosnia while being simultaneously serviced by Monica Lewinsky.--Charles Krauthammer, History Will Not be Kind to Clinton

ASIDE: While clinton was being serviced by The Intern, he and Congressman H.L. "Sonny" Callahan were discussing sending American troops -- our sons and daughters -- to a dangerous place full of death. -- Mia T

What was always staggering to me about this scene was not what it says about Clinton's sexual practices -- I couldn't care less one way or another -- but about his unseriousness. --Charles Krauthammer

ASIDE: This scene confirms more than simply clinton's smallness; it confirms the Africa clip, the clintons' easy disregard for any life not their own... which, in turn, explains THE CLINTONS' EASY DISREGARD FOR GENOCIDE AND TERRORISM.--Mia T

I never hated Clinton. On the contrary, I often expressed admiration for his charm and for the roguish cynicism that allowed him to navigate so many crises. Nor was I scandalized by his escapades. What appalled me then, a feeling that returns as Clinton has gone national revisiting his own presidency, is the smallness of a man who granted equal valence to his own indulgences on the one hand and to the fate of nations on the other. It is the smallness that disturbs. It is that smallness that history will remember.--Charles Krauthammer
