From friends at ABC; Peter Jennings is near death. This is unconfirmed, but from usually reliable sources.

The ABC anchor, who was born in Canada but became a US citizen, announced a few months ago that he was suffering from lung cancer. He has not made a televised appearance since.

You are so right, Michael. Compare this to how the left reacted to President Reagan's passing.

I never met Frank Reynolds, but I felt a bit of pride at knowing that his early radio work was at WJOB in Hammond, IN -- a station I competed directly with when I worked for WLTH in Gary. My uncle's early radio work was also at WJOB.

Not a bad place at all...

Everybody doing Jennings coverage. Fox at 9pm PST noted his death, then immediately went to Aruba coverage.

CNN showed the interview last year of Clinton telling Peter Jennings you don't want to go there. Clinton sounding like the typical jerk he is.

I just watched the special report they had on him.

Why I am tearing up for a guy I never liked for his politics, I don't quite know.

But, my heart goes out to his family and those who were close to him.

I have a heck of a lot of respect for the utter deterimination and hard work he did to get where he got. That is impressive, and I found it particularly amazing how he read books and more books to understand what he was reporting about.

Though I felt sometimes he was very biased in his reporting, I do not believe it was on purpose, and there were times when he could have been biased that I was impressed he actually wasn't.

Prayers for his wife and children.

In the special report, they played his comments from when he announced his cancer....he sounded really bad then.

I am glad he went with family by his side.

I sure hope he was a believer.

He looked like Roger Moore, a dead-ringer for him at the same age.

Damn good reporter. I was always in awe of his ad lib skills and how much he knew about everything he covered.

They showed clips of his early years. David Brinkley (RIP for a really good guy there) had to correct him several times.

It is obvious they were not lying when they said he began reading lots of books on different subjects after that.
