Russian Viet Nam War veterans meet in Moscow

08/07/2005 -- 10:36(GMT+7)

Moscow (VNA) – A get-together has been held by the inter-regional social association of Russian Viet Nam war veterans with the attendance of former Soviet Union military experts who had been in Viet Nam to help the country fight the US imperialists.

In his opening speech, President of the organisation’s Presidium Nicolai Kolesnich said the function is annually held on August 5 since 1970, the day the US began its air raids on northern Viet Nam. Former Soviet Union veterans worked together with Vietnamese comrades to fight the US war.

This year’s meeting took place prior to the 60th anniversary of the August Revolution and the Independence Day of Viet Nam, he said, adding that it is therefore of paramount significance.

Kolesnich expressed his hope that the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Viet Nam Communist Party, will gain greater achievements in their national construction and achieve their target of building Viet Nam towards a wealthy people, a strong nation, and an equitable, democratic and civilised society.

Vietnamese Minister Counsellor Nguyen Xuan Luu expressed his thank to the people from the former Soviet Union in the past and Russia now for their enormous assistance to Viet Nam’s anti-US war and its national construction.

He hoped that Russian veterans will continue their efforts to further strengthening the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia.

The US government refused to admit the Soviets and the Chinese had advisers in S. Vietnam even though our forces had killed some Chinese and there were sightings of both in S. Vietnam.

Well the U.S. government hides alot of things actually. I'm not suprised they will deny the russian and chinese involvement. Maybe its for our good. Or to hide the fact the Russians and Chinese helped the Vietnamese defeat the U.S. during the 1967 war in Vietnam. It would be quite embarrassing, Since it would mean this is 1 loss to the VCR trio, 1 stale mate with the KCR trio. Man every defeat and stalemate always has the sino-russian duo

Fortunately, Vietnam will be abandoning communism and adopting free markets, so the cause the Soviets fought for will be defeated.

I have a client that was a RECON Marine that participated in the raid to free the POW's and told me as soon as his chopper set down, he began shooting Russians that were exiting the barracks adjacent to the POW camp. He said that they stopped a lot of them that day. Unfortunately, the POW's had been removed from that location in Hanoi and all the raid accomplished was the elimination of a bunch of Russian advisors. That was one of the many surprises the Americans discovered on the Hanoi POW camp raids.

So, me commie lads, how did you like that little Afghanistan excursion? You remember, when American support for the Afghans sent you running back home with your tails between your legs.

Payback was a bitch, hey??

'helped the Vietnamese defeat the U.S. during the 1967 war in Vietnam.'

the 1967 War? Was that a separate and distinct war from the Vietnam War which ran from 1965-1975?

History.........get some

The American left is responsible for any so-called defeat. PS: The war started long before 1967. Learn a little history before speaking about it.

Well, that proves it beyond any doubt.  If it's "everywhere" on the net, it must be true!

There was no U.S. defeat in 1967. The war neither started nor concluded in that year. The "defeat", which the Soviets, and their fellow travelers, did indeed have a part in creating, came later, and far away from the battlefields of southeast Asia.
