Thanks for your comment.
See my previous post. I DO know what they went through in Vietnam...
Peace.....
I found it, thank you for what you did.
I remember McNamara's 10,000. He lowered requirements & standards for the draft, that was pretty bad, but didn't rise to the anger you have with him....any suggestions on where to learn more about him?
Nam vet! Don't show it off, let it go. Stand for the men that serve now. Our time is done, we did the best we could, this is their time and they need our support. Sure, everyone of us would like to fight this war, every john jack amongst us. But, we can't, they have to and they deserve our pride, and our honor, and our support. My service is their's now, my pride is their's. Get the enemy and kill him, do it for me boys, do it for me.
I got there when you left. Returning to Travis, we were briefed upon disembarking that any retaliation against demonstrators would result in an Article 15 and possible civil charges. That was '71.
Good to hear from you!
IIRC McNamara wrote a book shortly before his death about the war. Basically took responsibility for it. I hold him personally responsible for the deaths of 57,000 of our men and boys.
You could do an Amazon or Google search for it. Can't emember the title.
found it. will read it. thanks
