Not Worth My Son's Sacrifice (Cindy Sheehan 2/05)
Grannies Against George.US ^ | 2/2/05 | Cindy Sheehan

Posted on 08/08/2005 3:29:50 PM PDT by Carling

Dear MFSO

I used to have a son in the Army. Spc Casey Austin Sheehan was killed in an ambush in Sadr City on 04/04/04. Our family was against this "war" from the beginning. We cannot believe that the American people think this is a good thing. But our son joined the Army in 08/00. He loved it and did well and he was a good soldier. He reenlisted for another 4 years and was looking forward to changing his MOS. He was a mechanic, and according to his superior officers a great one, but he was going to go into Military Personnel. He didn't complain about going to war, he just wanted to get over there and come home. He said "the sooner we go, the sooner we come back"

My dear, sweet, sensitive, faithful, gentle, and loving son was KIA after he had been over there for 2 short weeks He had no idea how soon he would be coming home. He volunteered to go and rescue some of his buddies and was ambushed by an even larger force. He was killed instantly and he didn't suffer, but we are suffering enough for everybody.

It was confirmed by the air force officer who escorted my son home from Iraq that he was one of the flag draped coffins. Shame on America for not wanting to see that! Why? Does it make the civilian families uncomfortable? Everyone of those flag draped coffins was somebody's son! My son never got the chance to be married and have children. He would have been an awesome husband and daddy.

I hadn't seen this posted on FR. Take it for what you will, but the one thing I got out of it is that Casey re-enlisted in the Army.

Apparently, he believed in the war he was fighting.

Shame on America for not wanting to see that!

I don't think that America did NOT want to see that. It's not every family's wish that their child's coffin is displayed. A policy of long standing, IIRC.

Yes, that's what they all want to believe.

Spare us the ravings of a lunatic. This deranged creature's 15 minutes cannot end soon enough for me. She apparently once thought her son's sacrifice worth it, and the acknowledgement it received from the president appropriate and satisfying...I guess that was before the George Soros/Jane Fonda money started pouring in...

PROTESTING SOLDIER MOM CHANGED STORY ON BUSH
Mon Aug 08 2005 10:11:07 ET

The mother of a fallen U.S. soldier who is holding a roadside peace vigil near President Bush's ranch -- has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer!

Cindy Sheehan, 48, of Vacaville, Calif., who last year praised Bush for bringing her family the "gift of happiness," took to the nation's TV outlets this weekend to declare how Bush "killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity."

CINDY 2004

THE REPORTER of Vacaville, CA published an account of Cindy Sheehan's visit with the president at Fort Lewis near Seattle on June 24, 2004:

"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,' Cindy said after their meeting. 'I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith.'

"The meeting didn't last long, but in their time with Bush, Cindy spoke about Casey and asked the president to make her son's sacrifice count for something. They also spoke of their faith.

"The trip had one benefit that none of the Sheehans expected.

"For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. They laughed, joked and bickered playfully as they briefly toured Seattle.

For the first time in 11 weeks, they felt whole again.

"'That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together,' Cindy said."

CINDY 2005

Sheehan's current comments are a striking departure.

She vowed on Sunday to continue her protest until she can personally ask Bush: "Why did you kill my son?"

In an interview on CNN, she claimed Bush "acted like it was party" when she met him last year.

"It was -- you know, there was a lot of things said. We wanted to use the time for him to know that he killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity. And we wanted him to look at the pictures of Casey.

"He wouldn't look at the pictures of Casey. He didn't even know Casey's name. He came in the room and the very first thing he said is, 'So who are we honoring here?' He didn't even know Casey's name. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to hear anything about Casey. He wouldn't even call him 'him' or 'he.' He called him 'your loved one.'

Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party.

BLITZER: Like a party? I mean...

SHEEHAN: Yes, he came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died for his misguided policies. He didn't even pretend like somebody...

END

On her current media tour, Sheehan has not been asked to explain her twist on Bush; from praise to damnation!

Developing...

Now it appears that Ms. Sheehan, a very bitter and vicious politically active partisan is now the spokes person for the 1700+ killed in the Iraq War. I'm sure we'll hear more from her than all the rest put together. Perhaps she can team up with the Jersey Girls.

Go to this website: http://www.remember.org/witness/cowling.html and read the letter to home written by Lt. William Cowling, one of the liberators of the Dachau concentration camp. Pay special note to the next to the last paragraph. People of his parents' generation evidently had a different concept of service than those of the present generation.

My Nephew Adam along with members of A. Co. 2/5 Cav were the reaction force sent into that battle. By all accounts I have heard it was one nasty firefight. 3 guys in Adams hummer were hit by enemy fire that day and we know several were KIA.

I have met Casey's mom and one thing stick in my mind about our encounter, and it's this. She is like my mom's best friend, who once said matter of factly "The Russians will never nuke California, they want our technology!". Stupid and Liberal.

My answer to the above statement...If they destroy ours, doesn't that make theirs the best??

In my 54 years, I have witnessed so many that make a personal choice to "blame" anyone and/or "anything" for everything from personal failures to family tragedy...

From a simple layman's standpoint, I realize my professional limitations, yet I remain appalled....by this episode.

Thankfully...most that have lost love ones that have willingly done the heavy lifting and conducted the righteous battle...choose to respect the wishes of the fallen.

Same group - it's based in Massachusets, home of John Kerry and Ted Kennedy:

WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 — A group of about 600 U.S. military families, upset about the living conditions of soldiers in Iraq, are launching a campaign asking their relatives to urge members of Congress and President George W. Bush to bring the troops home. ''We're growing more and more disturbed about the conditions that are developing. Our concerns are both for our troops and the people in Iraq,'' said Nancy Lessin, a founder of Families Speak Out, formed last fall to oppose the war in Iraq. -------- "US military families push to bring Iraq troops home," by Niala Boodhoo, via Drudge / (P)MSNBC Families Speak Out is Military Families Speak Out.

From the Dartmouth Review March 23, 2003
http://69.57.157.207/archives/000948.php

Nancy Lessin, the mother of a US Marine currently stationed in the Gulf and one of those bringing suit to stop a potential war, cited as her motivation that ‘we worry about Joe, we don’t want him to be wounded or die. We don’t want him to be forced to wound or kill innocent Iraqi civilians. That would kill part of him and part of us.’

Reuters is copying heavily from a recent Guardian piece of agitprop.
Susan E. Schumann of Shelburne Falls, Mass., (mother of Justin) was co-plaintiff in the MFSO lawsuit in March. (Real nice of her to name the city and building in which Justin sleeps at night.)
Nancy Lessin's military family do not support her. Lessin showed up in Philadelphia on July 4th with a bunch of like-minded folks.

Take it for what you will, but the one thing I got out of it is that Casey re-enlisted in the Army...

With a mother like that who could blame him, God rest his soul. Another thing, is there a father somewhere in the picture? Did he predeceased his son? Are the mother and father divorced? (Even so you'd expect the father to be someone abouts. After all, he was the lad's father.) Or is Mr. Sheehan no where to be found b/c of grief and, more so, humiliation, shame and embarrassment at his wife's actions?

('Course, OTOH maybe he's been shoulder-to-should with his wife all this while and I just missed it...gee, me? Making a mistake? [grin])

She reminds me of the Jersey Girls. Almost 3000 were killed on September 11th and in the aftermath the very radicalized and partisan Jersey Girls became the official spokes people for all others for all the Sept. 11 related events.

She is very much like the Jersey Girls. I heard her voice today and I knew I heard it before on the Laura Ingraham show when they played some clips from Hardball (while talking about bias.)

Here is a Transcript of the interview on Hardball from June 22

Of course, I am sorry for her loss and she is allowed to feel however she wants to feel and to speak out, but it does seem she is becoming a pawn of the left. I thought she sounded a little dim when I heard her interview, and that has not changed.

Cindy Sheehan's son Casey, a soldier, was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004. "Our family never agreed with the war or it's reasons, but since Casey was killed, so many of the reasons and rationalizations that Bush has given have proven to be lies," Cindy said.

Since April, Cindy has traveled all over the country telling Casey's story. She also started an organization called RealVoices.org, with a focus on filming commercials telling real stories of those greatly impacted by the Bush Administration. The spots were aired before the election in swing states. In her talks, she touches on how the president has betrayed the American people and exploited the brave men and women in uniform to bring more profit to his friends. "My goal is to bring our troops home to try and save another mother from going through what I am going through."

I'm a Nam combat vet, and a disabled vet.
I'm sorry for your loss, BUT your son volunteered to join the military, and then voluntarily reenlisted.
In other words he was where he volunteered to be doing what he volunteered to do.
Somewhere in here do you get the idea that this was his decision and not his mothers?
Your son cut the apron strings and now after his death this lady is holding on to them with everything she has and trashing her sons memory in the process.
I salute this young man for a job well done. Thank you for freeing millions of people from a tyrant and murderer. I hope that in the future this mother will come to respect the wishes of her son. Right now she is just being a useful Idiot for the socialist left in this country.

Her immediate family isn't going to do anything to help her. They are almost as crazy as she is. I wouldn't doubt if her close relatives are Bush haters as well. What's most interesting about this is the way the DU and their ilk have gravitated to her like flys on sh**. Its completely shameless. They don't care about her or her problems; they only care about the damage she might be able to do to Bush, the military and the republicans in general. Absolutely amazing - you should go check out their stuff (or watch the movie Seven, for more light-hearted fare).

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who loses a son or daughter in service to the United States can say whatever they want.

It is not my place to judge such a person.

However, it is also not necessary for me to agree with the dark logic of grief, either, because it is usually wrong.

I wish Mrs. Sheehan well, but her public displays are little more than a sad footnote to a tragic tale.

This pathetic posturing woman -- is snatching her 15 minutes of "fame" by dragging her dead son through the streets ---- as though she's the only woman that ever lost a son..

She disgraces herself by her despicable actions.

Her big brother was killed so other men could line their pockets.

He reenlisted in 2004, well after the war had started. Why? Was he "lining his pockets?"

Let me know what I can do.

You can stop embarassing every mother (and father) in America who has lost a son, whatever the reason.
