As one who fell for the democrats description of Republicans for many years, I can say you are soooo right. Now that I am one, I know better. In fact, the truth be told, those things describe the democrats instead.

This is what we have on our brochures as a Republican Women's Group:

WE ARE REPUBLICANS BECAUSE…

We believe that our government’s most solemn duty is to keep its citizens safe.

We believe a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit will keep our economy strong and provide more opportunities for workers and families.

We believe that free enterprise and the encouragement of individual initiative and incentive have given this nation an economic system second to none.

We believe in building an innovative economy to compete in the world, because America can compete with anyone, anywhere, thanks to our entrepreneurs and risk-takers who keep us on the cutting edge of technology and commerce.

We believe in strengthening our communities, because our children deserve to grow up in an America in which all their hopes and dreams can come true.

We believe in protecting our families, and I respect the family’s role as a touchstone of stability and strength in an ever changing world.

(and my personal favorite...)

We choose strength over uncertainty, results over rhetoric, optimism over pessimism, opportunity over dependence, freedom over fear, and moving forward over turning back.

Finally, we believe that the Republican Party is the best suited to preserve, protect, and defend these ideals.

God Bless America!!!

the question, “What is a Republican?”, and you’ll be told “… a rich, greedy, egotistical individual, motivated only by money and the desire to accumulate more and more of it, at the expense of the environment … the working poor ….and all whom they exploit…”

I can only speak for myself, but that sounds a lot like me! ;-)

Isn't it funny how the athiests, condom throwers, abortion enthusiasts, Hollywood drunks, gold-chained union "organizers", screeching feminists, welfare administrators, permanent race "vicitms", and the rest of the government-addicted losers, parasites, and malcontents who make up the Democrat "base" view the very people they want to steal from?

A young girl was about to finish her first year of college. She considered herself to be a very "progressive" (sic) Democrat and her father was a rather staunch Republican.

One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs; particularly, his opposition to programs like welfare. He stopped her and asked her how she was doing in school.

She answered that she had a 4.0 GPA but it was really tough. She had to study all the time, never had time to go out and party and often went sleepless because of all the studying. She didn't have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of all her studying.

He then asked how her friend Mary, who was attending the same college, was doing.

She replied that she was barely getting by. She had a 2.0 GPA, never studied, was very popular on campus and was at parties all the time, and she often wouldn't show up for classes because she was hung over.

He then asked his daughter why she didn't go to the Dean's office and ask why she couldn't take 1.0 off her 4.0 and give it to her friend who only had a 2.0 GPA. That way they would both have a 3.0 GPA.

The daughter fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for mine and my friend has done nothing!"

The father smiled and said, "Welcome to the Republican Party!"

Try being a heavily tattooed mid-20's-year-old rock musician and coming out as a libertarian / conservative.

People accept your stance on ending the drug war (for different reasons than their own, of course), but everything else cuts you off from folks pretty quickly.

Then tell them you're a Christian and they're totally disgusted!

"I am a Republican … I am none of those things… and I don’t know any Republicans who are."

I'm a Republican also and I'm not that way either, nor are many of the people here.... But sadly enough if you stick around here long enough you'll see those exact kind of "Republicans".

My wife and I are both Republicans.
My wife is from China and from a poor family.
My father was a struggling carpenter who also had trouble making ends meet.
We both believe in the Right to Bear arms, a strong military, lower taxes, patriotism, no affirmative action and the death penalty.
We are middle class hardworking people who are sick of liberals that demonize this nation and its best qualities.
