She/they had pre-planned all this. He was not in the shackles when he gave himself up. I'm guessing she stole a key while she was working at the prison and had him out of those pretty quickly after they escaped. She probably brought him clothes to change into. If she indeed dyed her hair black as the cabbie reports, then it would be more difficult to recognize them. How much attention do you think the average clerk at a Best Value or Econolodge motel pays to the national news? There's people all around us who never watch the news!
