If memory serves, it was Henry Kissinger who said something to the effect that the problem wasn't that Carter did not know, but that he did not know that he did not know.

Jimmy Carter was living proof of the Peter Principle.

Jimmy "I lusted in my mind again" Carter

I wonder how he really feels about the pro death turn his party has taken?

I guess I find it hard tro acknowledge any good he may have done with the vast body of out and out stupidity he is associated with :)

("I had a discussion with my daughter, Amy, the other day, before I came here, to ask her what the most important issue was. She said she thought nuclear weaponry ... ")

George Will was kind to Jimmy Carter when he wrote this. Carter, allegedly a nuclear expert, could never say 'nuclear'; he pronounced it, 'noo ke ur'.

I think Carter is not only a disgrace to the South, but to the entire nation. He and Bill Clinton need to take lessons on how a 'former' President should behave, and should keep their mouths shut and stop criticizing our President and our nation.

"A man who tells you he enjoys a cold shower every morning will lie about other things."

-Ronald Reagan, regarding Carter, during the 1980 campaign.

The Gipper had poor pathetic Jimmy's shabby character and propensity to tell big fat whoppers "fib" pegged correctly from the git-go.

He is an ongoing disgrace to the honor of the high office he once held.

I remember that debate vividly. It's one of the things I remember about Carter as President. I could not believe he could say something so stupid. I also remember that he gave away the Panama Canal. I remember his way of dealing with Americans being held hostage was a shameful disgrace, keeping our Citizens in captivity while the rest of the world mocked our Nation. I remember I voted for him. I remember those years were the beginning of my re-examining my political affiliation. I learned from my mistakes.

Waydda go George Will! Loved his letter back to the Jimmah. I doubt Jimmah got the humor.

I still can't believe this guy was in the silent service, he can't keep his trap shut.

I still shake my head when I think of his peace mission to North Korea. Promise not to make weapons and we'll give you a nuclear reactor. sheesh.

"I also remember that he gave away the Panama Canal."

Good. Please remember also that both ends of the Panama Canal are controlled by the Communist Chinese.

Thanks, Jimmy!

Regards,

Will's response to Carter's "used bookstore" jab is classic. I wonder if, to this day, the lying little bastard realizes how soundly he was bitch-slapped?

If Carter were half the country boy he wants people to think he is, he would have learned early the caveat of one not getting into a piss fight with a skunk.

I remember that line during the debate.

I actually laughed out loud at the absurdity of the statement. I knew at that point that he lost the debate.

I remember the debate, too. I also remember Carter said something along the lines of, "Republicans want to see your children fry to a horrible blackened crisp in a nukeeelar screaming fireball of death." Or words to that effect. It was an awful performance, and I had a sinking feeling he was going to win anyway. Hey, I was young.

He was the last dim I ever voted for. And that was really a vote against Ford.
