Russia’s chief rabbi predicts the imminent coming of a Messiah
Interfax ^ | 09 August 2005

Posted on 08/12/2005 9:49:49 AM PDT by jb6

Moscow, August 9, Interfax - Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar believes the Earth will soon see the coming a Messiah to reward everyone according to his deserts.

‘We know that he (Messiah - IF) is very near at hand, but he needs not only to be born but also to come. The Messiah may well have been born already, but unless he is ordered by God he cannot reveal himself with God’s help and change the world for the better’, the rabbi said in an interview published by the Gazeta daily on Tuesday.

Lazar explained this assumptions about the imminent coming of a Messiah by the fact that “the world today is in a state described by our sages as ‘hevley mashiah’, that is, labour that precedes the coming of a Messiah’.

‘It is a time’, he explained, ‘when many good things are created in the world and the progress of science and technology has made it possible to solve many human problems, to overcome diseases, famine, etc., on one hand. On the other hand, it is for the first time since God created human beings that humans have taken hold of such means of destruction that the whole of our race and even the globe itself can be destroyed instantly’.

‘We are living on the verge of history; it can be felt everywhere’, Rabbi Lazar is convinced. Recalling the comparison made by philosopher Maimonides who likened the world to scales, Lazar assumed that ‘perhaps God is waiting for only one deed to be put on the good scale to order the Messiah to reveal himself’.

Speaking about it, Russia’s chief rabbi called upon everyone ‘to add this good deed as one’s contribution may prove decisive’.

Here's the real deal...

For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed--the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy every god there is and tear down every object of adoration and worship. He will position himself in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God. Don't you remember that I told you this when I was with you? 6And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes.

For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. This evil man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of wicked deception to fool those who are on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe the truth that would save them. So God will send great deception upon them, and they will believe all these lies. Then they will be condemned for not believing the truth and for enjoying the evil they do.

The time of His return is unknown but to God the Father

When He does return it will be with Power...

No longer will he be the 'suffering servant'...

The 'Lamb of God' returns as 'The Lion of Judah'...

Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Messiah will return.

BTW, from the Hindu point of view Christians are already "behind" on at least three comings of the Messiah, and maybe four!

Sometimes the Messiah comes where we can't see Him in fact.

If I joined each religion that threatened eternal damnation, I'd be a member of about 1000 faiths, and subject to so many prohibitions, I'd be paralyzed with indecision.

What kind of a man would I be if I left my own faith and that of my fathers, and the faith of the Patriarchs, Moses, the Judges, the Prophets, the Kings and Jesus himself. ;) My duty to carry on tradition.

The way I see it, I will love G-d, obey his laws as best I can, love my family and my country, work hard and try to build a better world, and hope for the best. I will love and respect those who worship my G-d in their own way, for we're all brothers made in the image of G-d, and that's all I can do.

That's correct - the prophet Daniel talked about it here...

Dan 9:25 "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.....

This was from the decree of Artaxerxes (Mar. 14, 445BC) in the book of Nehemiah (chapt 2) 173,880 days later and right on time Yeshua the Messiah rode into Jerusalem on the foal of an ass being proclaimed "King".

Dan 9:26 "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, (executed) but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined." Dan 9:27 "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease

(reveals Yeshua being killed in the middle of the week - wednesday, (that's why there's no such thing as "good friday") and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation,,,,"

Shalom

Sure does!

"And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

From the Bible, my source of facts, the next coming of Messiah, everyone will see him:

Rev. 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

God promised Abraham...

"...And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice."

Historically, it is Jesus of Nazareth alone who has turned people from every nation to seek the blessings of the God of Abrahan, Isaac & Jacob.

Today, 2.1 billion people, one third of the population of the world align themselves with the historic faith of Abraham and the Jewish (and Christian) Scriptures as the Word of God - all because of Jesus Christ.

Whether you believe him to be Messiah or not, it certainly appears that he is fulfilling God's ancient promise to Abraham.

Muawiyah knows something the writer of the book of Hebrews did not know:

Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Two comings of Messiah. The second time it won't be to bring salvation, i.e., to die bearing the sins of the world, it will be for judgment.

Two comings of Messiah, with no coming in between.

You are demanding some sort of theological certitude based on a stressful reading of a single verse.

I'd pretty much have to know what denomination you were representing and which version of what translation you were focusing on this year to figure out everything that you just said.

Since my initial statement referred to a more general case which included Hinduism and it's claims regarding the Messiah, I'd suggest you take it up with your local religious authorities.

There's a very interesting passage in the bible (read old testament), that says that G-d shall send different prophets to different people.

Regardless, since those 2.1 billion people are charged with following G-d's laws, and being decent people, I have no complaints.

You have to remember, though, that Jews don't seek to convert others (for the most part). We welcome converts, but we aren't supposed to proselytize. Non-Jews do not need to follow the halakha laws to secure a place in the world to come, for example; only Jews do.

Thus, I love Christians as my brothers and sisters, because they worship the same G-d as I do, and follow the commandments as I do. And I applaud Jesus and his disciples for making the world a better place. But I can't accept Jesus as the Messiah without betraying my own faith and ignoring the scriptural conditions for the arrival of the messiah. ;)

Doesn't mean I won't stand up for Christianity and Christians when push comes to shove, though. Or defend the name and deeds of Christianity from those who would try to sully its name (because if I am not for my brother, who is for me?).

Same G-d, but to put it glibly, I'll wait to embrace the Messiah: and if it's his second time here, I'll say I'm sorry for doubting, and hope I'm forgiven.

And if he says he can't remember...Well, then, we'll call it a draw! (But everyone wins because the Messiah is here) ;)

The interchange with you is very revealing. I have oftentimes wondered how Biblical minded people could ever become so apostate as to fall for the antichrist when he makes his appearance.

I understand now. It will come through such leftist Christian theology as you apparently espouse.

Your multicultural, politically correct idea provides interim Messiahs for Hindus and other other religious peoples, and opens the door for the antichrist.

You, sir, represent the apostasy the Bible warns us would take place before the true, and actual second coming of the Messiah.

Yeshua being killed in the middle of the week..

Middle of the week = middle of a Shemita cycle. April 5, 30 C.E. / 16 Nisan 3790.

To determine which year is a shemita divide by 7, the last shemita year was 5761.

There is no 7 year tribulation, three and a half (time, times and half a time) for the Messiah and three and a half for the ruler.

Why Didn't The Red Ribbon on the Head of the Scapegoat Turn White in 30 C.E.?

Excerpt:

Nevertheless, it is essential that we examine this well-worn argument with which you were confronted. In Tractate Yoma 39b, the Talmud quotes a Baraisa1 that discusses numerous remarkable phenomena that occurred in the Temple during the Yom Kippur service. More specifically, the Talmud states that there was a strip of scarlet-dyed wool tied to the head of the scapegoat which would turn white in the presence of the large crowd gathered at the Temple on the Day of Atonement. The Jewish people perceived this miraculous transformation as a heavenly sign that their sins were forgiven. The Talmud relates, however, that 40 years before the destruction of the second Temple the scarlet colored strip of wool did not turn white. The text of the Talmud which missionaries quote states,

The Rabbis taught that forty years prior to the destruction of the Temple the lot did not come up in the [high priest’s] right hand nor did the tongue of scarlet wool become white . . . .

What if your obedience to his laws is not good enough?

Excuse me, but the act of including a hyphen in the name of G-d shows reverence. Your attitude conveys disrespect.

More than a few Freeps have questioned me on this, and my reply is thus. In Hebrew text, the name of G-d is never written fully. Some Jews choose to carry this over into English. For myself, it helps me to be mindful of the creator.

We all pray to the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as did your Christ. We all agree that Moses brought the commandments down from Sinai. By virtue of the fact that we read this post, I think in our hearts we all agree we need to act as though time is short and G-d is more watchful than ever.

Christians and Jews mustn't quibble, we must hold together.

And with this, I wish you all a Good Shabbos (who posted there were no good Fridays? - they're ALL good).

Shalom und sei gesund,

Bella
