FDR did more to contribute to the depression than Hoover did, we might still be in it if WWII hadn't happened. The economy was actually doing worse under FDR than Hoover.

Like that, eh?

Oh, yeah. Then again, nearly everything is funny to me right now.

This is the one two punch to America, but, I would say that Carter, for certain, was the worst. He is the man that is responsible for the 911. Clinton, time will tell how bad he was.

In his study of the Great Depression, Murray Rothbard identified five steps that the federal government can take to delay or prevent economic recovery:

• Discourage liquidation of unviable businesses;

• Inflate the money supply;

• Enforce artificially high wage rates;

• Enforce artificially high prices;

• Stimulate consumption and discourage saving.

Following the 1929 Stock Market Crash, the administration of Republican President Herbert Hoover faithfully followed the five steps outlined by Rothbard in the name of economic "recovery." Disdaining what he called the "leave-it-alone liquidationists" who urged that the market should take its course, Hoover initiated a series of wage and price controls, bailouts of failing firms, and public works projects. In 1931, the Fed injected more money into the economy, but the economy — weighted down with the additional burden of billions in new federal "relief" spending — refused to revive.

As unemployment and desperation ravaged our nation, Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected in 1932 on a platform properly castigating Hoover for meddling in the economy. Once in power, FDR immediately discarded that platform, choosing instead to build on and expand the Hoover administration’s socialist initiatives — with predictable results.

Did Hoover do anything? I thought his solution was just to stand back and watch and let it fix itself. ??? Someone enlighten me.

One was bad because he was a stupid moron. The other was bad because he was one of those genius types who forgets that other people have brains too AND he really didn't give a tinker's damn about anyone but himself - and maybe his daughter, Chelsea. Somehow, as much as I dislike Carter, I have to feel more charitable towards him because he is so stupid and he really does not know it and, thus, does/says all these things that display his lack of intelligence thinking he is looking smart and shrewd. There is no excuse for what the other one did/does, however; he knows better and does not care. He does it 'BECAUSE HE CAN' and no one will challenge him. I wish I could put them both on a rocket to outer space that would never return.

(BTW, if you ever hear of a middle aged vet popped for P*ssing on a certain deceased President's grave in Austin Texas, I smoke Marlborough Lights thank you)

I'd like to see him exhumed once a year for just that sort of festivity. Hell, they should take him on a tour from sea to shining sea so people could pay their "respects".

Herbert Hoover was the "Scapegoat" for the Great depression.

Not the architect.

It is understandable to block such things.

cartbilly is the worst - he professes to be Christian, sold our country out, and greased the skids for clintbilly.

Mick's new lyrics completely apply to him.

President Bush lives his faith in a most genuine way. May the Lord bless him and keep him.

This is my first try at a post reply - hope it works. Clinton was the worst and Carter a close second. But, LBJ is a close third.

Personally, I think that Karter is more to blame for the rise in Islamo-fascism than does Klinton.

My favourite Carter quote was attributed to his mom, Miz Lillian:

"Sometimes I look at my boys and say to myself, Lillian, y'all should have stayed a virgin."
