Are Democrats beginning to get it on gun control (and do they secretly read conservative blogs?)

Through the energetic gerrymandering of Massachusetts Democrats, my town recently was slapped-onto a district shaped like a road kill that also contains Northampton, MA, and a gaggle of other similarly aggressively Lunatic Left cities and towns (2nd Congressional District - MA). Nonetheless, I recently sent my congressman, Richard Neal, a letter urging him to support Congressional passage of the Fair Trade in Firearms Law that aims to protect gun manufactiurers from being sued out of business by lost causes like Detroit and funders of lost causes like Starbucks Marxist George Soros (when not otherwise occupied by raping European banking systems and impoverishing millions):

As I recently related on the web, I received an answer from Neal, in which he stressed that the issue of eminent domain is indeed a knotty one:

Upon receiving Neal's letter I posted all on the web while publicly wondering just how screwed-up Democrats were.

Although it seems unlikely, it appears that Neal's office monitors the Web, for I just received a second letter from Neal, in which he gives at least the appearance that he is not automatically in favor of banning the private ownership of firearms:

I always thought that gun control was the Democrats' way of being "tough on crime".

"I always thought that gun control was the Democrats' way of being "tough on crime"."

The ironic thing about gun control if you look at the polls is that the majority of people simultaneously support gun control and believe that it doesn't work.

Try this...
Using two different names, send two letters to your congressman.
One supporting the bill, the other opposing.

I would suppose you will get the exact same letter as a reply to both.

Not a chance, especially here.

He is up for reelection next year, he will say anything to anyone if he thinks it is what they want to hear.

He will always support any mechanism to disarm the law abiding citizens just like all rats.

Your duty, like mine, is to throw away your vote to anyone who is running as a Republican against him... If there are any Republicans left in his district willing to waste a few million dollars to get 30% of the electorate.

My representative is Tierney, a communist. I will be voting against him until he dies of old age in office... Unless I manage to get out of this place.

Since "soccer moms" have turned into "security moms" after 9/11, and also due to the great efforts of the NRA, I think the idea of gun control is a non-starter for most politicians. I know I'm in Texas, but 99% of the democrats I know own guns.

Are Democrats beginning to get it on gun control?

Not bloody likely.

The democrat idea of "getting it" on gun control in not what it should be. They "get" that the majority of Americans aren't buying the gun grabbers lies any more, so they figure they just need to lie all the harder about their gun grabbing intentions. And then vote to grab guns anyways once they sleaze their way into office. That they should actually uphold and defend the Bill of Rights simply doesn't occur to them.

I don't care how many photo-op "hunting trips" a democrat candidate goes on. Democrat voting records speak louder than any campaign speeches or advertisements. Until I see the democrats actually propose and pass repeals of our many thousands of unconstitutional "gun control" laws, I'm not believing in or voting for any so-called "pro gun democrat".

Remember that some of his constituents work at Smith & Wesson, so he has to really walk a fine line between his Democratic instincts, and not pissing off a hometown employer.

Poor guy... (/sarcasm)

How do you know when a Democrat who says he/she supports the Second Amendment is lying?

His/her lips are moving.

I don't care how many photo ops Democrats stage with guns while wearing hunting gear. I trust them about as far as I can throw them.

That said, the Republicans would be well-advised to start getting more vocal in favor of our right to keep and bear arms. Their silence could be misinterpreted as agreement with the Democrats.

Unfortuantely, the REPUBLICANS in New York (Pataki, Giussolini, and Bloomberg) are more ravidly anti-gun than the average congressional Democrat. Omit New York from your concept of Democrats OR Republicans "getting it" on the gun issue.

I think the RKBA is too important of an issue to comprimise on for the sake of partisan politics. I saw a FR thread last week in which the NRA is endorsing a Democrat (I completely forget which state) because he is better on RKBA issue then the Republican. I agree with them on this.
