GRESHAM, Ore. -- Using a machete and a sports utility vehicle, police say a group of skinheads threatened a group of African Americans in Gresham.
The alleged racial attack happened Sunday night at the 7-11 on Northeast Division Street and Hogan.
No one was hurt but Gresham police arrested four people. The three men and one woman all apparently told police they are skinheads.
One was previously convicted of a similar crime. Police say the men were attacked for one reason, because they were black. If they were hoping to scare Kamau Herndon, they picked on the wrong guy.
Herndon went to the 7-11 to get a drink, but he got much more.
When he came out of the store one of the men said, "I'll kill you n*****."
He says he's heard racial slurs at his Gresham neighborhood's 7-11 before, but he says this was the first time he was physically threatened.
He told police three white men and a white woman threatened him and two other African-American men with a machete.
He says one of the men also tried to run him over in the parking lot.
Police later arrested four people and charged them with intimidation and attempted assault. Investigators say they all claimed to be members of white supremacist organizations.
The woman, 22-year-old Ariane Celis, has a swastika beneath her left eye.
"It eats at my soul. It can't happen. It just can't happen," Herndon said.
Herndon is no stranger to dealing with racism. His father is Ron Herndon, one of Portland's leading civil rights advocates. He taught his son to stand up for what he believes in.
"It's just one of those things where I just wasn’t going to back down because I'm not afraid. Those type of people they prey on fear and I'm not afraid of any man. I'm not afraid of the gang members that were in our neighborhoods in the 80's with guns, so why am I going to be afraid of a couple of guys with fake Ku Klux Klan. That's all they are. It's a joke." Herndon told KOIN News 6.
One of the men who was arrested Sunday night has been in trouble before for a different attack of a local black man.
In 2003, Dennis Mothersbaugh was convicted on two counts of intimidation. He served a year in jail, but was still on probation Sunday night. So if he's convicted again, he'll spend a lot more time in prison.

Speaking of Muslim punks,one of my sons had a tussle with one a few years ago in a bar. The muslim punk was offended by the cross my son wears around his neck, and tried to break it off.
I guess he didn't notice the dog tags..... Guess what happened.

1. looking at the picture in the first post, they don't look like skinheads, (heads not shaven)
2. why is it "OK" for them to write ' skinheads ' referring to the white and at the same time call the others ' African American ' using capitals
3. are they African, or are they Americans

Doesn't sound like much of an attack, but of course we can't let people call other people bad names. Chopping people with machetes isn't such a great thing, or smashing them into the parking lot with your car. What I want to know is why threaten and then run off like an idiot, surely they must have known they would be caught?
I would say, "Their mothers must be proud," but the trouble is, they probably ARE proud these little pieces of scum.
