How the heck does a black box break apart in a crash. They have worked for over 20 years without fail.
This is getting weird.

Agreed. But who did the f16 pilots see moving about?? Passengers trying to take control of the plane and land it? That's the most logical explanation.
BUT
I'm thinking they would have radioed the tower or signaled to the F-16's.

Probably passenger or flight attendants.
Sounds like the pilot went back to do something. Co-pilot stayed upfront. Was the pilot trying to troubleshoot a problem? Cockpit door was then left open so access was there from the passenger area.
Maybe as plane came down in altitude some passengers regained consciousness and tried to help.
It sounds like the plane circled an area while on autopilot for awhile.

They suspect that some of the passengers were trying to fly the plane.

Remember the Payne Stewart incident?
When jets intercepted his plane, the windows were frosted over and they couldn't see in the plane.
If this plane "supposedly" suffered from the same fate.....how come the windows of this plane were clear?

But who did the f16 pilots see moving about?? A muslim looking guy?
