A Life Worth Living Is Worth Losing

Cindy Sheehan, who lost a son in the war in Iraq, has become the poster child for the radical left anti-war movement. This is not a new stance for her. She has taken extreme positions before. Her public statements are doing much to discredit the antiwar movement, since, while we should never mitigate the importance of the loss she has suffered and the sacrifice her son made, the things she is saying and the subjects she dares to talk about are pretty off the wall.

There’re lots of places to see and hear the things she is saying, but I wanted to zero in on this one:

“This country is not worth dying for.”

The left wing in this country is sort of like the so-called suicide "martyrs".

If they were in charge, their actions would lead to all their deaths first.

“This country is not worth dying for.”

If the USA is not worth dying for, Ms. Sheehan is not worth listening to.

"Everyone dies, but not very many die for freedom."

Written by a soldier, (in a letter to his girlfriend), b4 he died in Iraq. I heard this on Sean yesterday, a simple but important statement by an ordinary man doing extraordinary things.

The left has the luxury of being stupid and obnoxious because others have died for this country. Cindy Sheehan and her ilk would be at the bottom of some river in a concrete burka if they practiced their antics around the people they're "standing up for".

This country is not worth dying for.

One of the most telling questions to ask a person is
What is so important to you that it would be worthy of dying for?
Who or What Is worthy of your service and allegiance

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
-- John Stewart Mill

Mill provides the best response to this question.

I would rather revere the memory of young soldier Sheehan. But I can't forget that she lost a son and that pain doesn't go away. Maybe someday she will just think about her son.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.

If you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly,
you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds
against you and only a precarious chance for survival.
There may even be a worse case.
You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory,
because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

I know it's been said before, but it's worth repeating:

"I'd rather give my life willingly for freedom than unwillingly for tyranny."

In the Ivey article you referred to he makes this statement, in the next to last paragraph:

"That’s what makes the American leftists so absurd: they sympathize with the insurgents/terrorists who kill innocents, while castigating Americans who sacrifice themselves to free the captives and uplift the downtrodden."

Make no mistake about it, if you research this nutjob named Cindy Sheehan you will come to know that she was an America hater well before her son was killed. She has NO conception of what REALLY motivates these terrorists, but finds America and Bush to be whipping-boys convenient to her agenda. She is a left-wing activist that has trumpeted not one or two of the most common assertions of the left, but ALL of them(including that he stole the election/s). She has NO HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE of what fundamentalist Islam is all about and is the typical spongey-headed loon one commonly finds on the left. They demand, in the most strident voices, their individual rights and, most especially, that 1st Amendment one YET they fail to understand that one must be prepared to fight to stop those who would take away those rights. She calls the President the biggest terrorist in the world and couldn't tell you what an Islamofascist is and what's worse...doesn't care for she is blinded by hatred.

I run a website for my US Navy ship reunion association and have composed most of the content. I have a page titled THE WAR ON TERROR I put together; specifically, as food for thought for those always critical of the President and this war. It's located at:

http://www.ussbexar-apa237.org/page/page/1608234.htm

Rather than post the lengthy remarks I invite you to visit and read them for yourself. I most sincerely beleive what I stated really needed to be said. Feel free to make a post with your comments.

“This country is not worth dying for.”

Note to Ms. Sheehan: if America isn't worth dying for, then why are you living in it?

Geez...what a tool.

It does my heart good to see that my parody of Sheehan is so well-received.

What really makes me giggle is that the Leftists consider the Arafat parody of Sheehan to be (and I quote) "Hate Speech."

Funny...the Leftists just loooooooved Arafat when he was alive. But when I compare their "Mother Sheehan" to him, they get their panties in a knot.

You may be right about Sheehan. Maybe she is just soft between the ears.

Her radical supporters are not. If you are amazed and do not understand how Americans can support the jihadis, David Horowitz explains how in Unholy Alliance. Both the left and islam see the US as their blood enemy, although for different reasons.

Did you know that world socialism is inevitable? The Moveon, Answer, Not in our Name and Lawyer Guild types think so. By dominating world affairs and promoting capitalism the US is delaying the inevitable socialist world and is therefore immoral. Fighting the US in the name of social justice is the higher good.

As for jihadis we are the great satan because we stand between them and world islam.

Hard to believe, but the American left and islam share the goal of destruction of these United States.

It could be said that the American left is the more dangerous of the two. They've accomplished more towards that goal and a great number of Americans unwittingly support their own demise.
