It would seem to me that unless the city can prove ownership, they were not in a position to charge rent.

I mean, I can't go charging people rent for property I don't own.

The Supreme Court ruling didn't mean that they own the property, only that they have the right to buy it.

That being said, I think it would take an Army and a bulldozer to move me out of my house, and I would almost certainly be willing to take someone out with me. And if a policeman says he's just doing his job, I would remind him of Cool Hand Luke's words on his way into the hole, "Calling it your job don't make it right."

I hope The New London Development Corporation fails miserably and goes in the tank. Maybe the former residents can get ahold of a Shaman to put a curse on the land...
