Islam truth and myth (VERY GOOD READ)
The Washington Times ^ | 24 August 2005 | Amy Doolittle

Posted on 08/23/2005 9:49:16 PM PDT by Aussie Dasher

Robert Spencer has written five books about Islam. His newest book is "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)."

The following are excerpts of a telephone interview with Mr. Spencer.

Question: Why did you write this book? Answer: I wrote this book in order to counteract a lot of politically correct falsehood about Islam and terrorism that are hindering our response to this problem. Q: You've written several books on Islam before. What's different about this one? A: Obviously, it contains different information in an approach that I haven't taken before. It discusses the Crusades, which I've never done at length, and it tries to make the case in a form that people who are in a hurry and don't wish to delve deeply can find as a ready reference. Q: What has been the reaction to the book? A: It's either enthusiastically positive or vehemently negative. The negative responses are not only from Muslims -- some have been very positive -- but the leftist intellectuals, who are convinced that the West can never be anything but the oppressor and the non-West can never be anything but the victim, are really negative. Everything that I say in the book is amply documented by Islamic sources. I think the prevailing multicultural politically correct assumption that Islam is a religion of peace is founded more on fantasy than on fact.

As I understand it, they're offended by the use of "towel," because what they wear is actually sheets, thus the term "sheetheads."

Old "habits" die hard, but I'll try to remember: "sheetheads".

The undeniable historical fact is that from the beginning Islam was spread more by the sword than by trade or other means, that Turkey was the first "Great Power" in Europe and until the 1680s threatened the liberty of every nation in Europe is unknow even to the graduates of our leading universities. The myth that Islam is a "tolerant" relgion is pure fantasy given the fact that Jews and Christians are being driven from Muslim countries. Yet the myth is believed, and is taught in our public schools.

I've read a few of Mr. Spencer's books. If it weren't for him, I'd probably still be towing the line "islam is a religion of peace." Not only are they well written they are also well researched. He quotes the Koran, Islamic scholars, and other materials that show how violent islam is and it's goals of world domination.

I went online on our libarary system looking for Spencer's newest book, but was happy to pick up his earlier writings of 2002 and 2003 tonight. Just cracked the cover on the earlier version, but since I have to work tomorrow, must put it down for now. A book review service used by the library system had a negative review on it from some disgruntled individual who claimed Spencer didn't know anything, yadda yadda yadda. Looking forward to reading both!

Q: Where did the belief that it is a "religion of peace" come from?
A: A variety of sources. The idea that it's a religion of peace was propagated most effectively when the British wanted to enter into an alliance with the Ottoman Empire. The British people knew of the violence and didn't want them as an ally to the British state. The British picked up the myth that Islam is a religion of peace, and they propagated that in order to make the alliance more palatable.
Also, you have terrorists themselves insisting that it is a religion of peace, by which they mean the peace that will be established in the world when Islam reigns supreme. The idea also comes from an unexamined assumption that anything that is a religion must necessarily teach the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. But Islam doesn't teach these things. It makes a sharp distinction between believers and unbelievers

Now we know the rest of the story.

Oh how history repeats itself. Its a shame we don't have a Gen. MacArthur around today. He knew how to deal with lunatic cultures and religions. In 1945 Japan's culture was as insane as Islam's culture is today:

My point is we need to give them a constitution. Like we did in Japan:
The Japanese did go to work on a new constitution, but MacArthur rejected their efforts in early February 1946 as "nothing more than a rewording of the old Meiji constitution." MacArthur took matters into his own hands. He ordered his government section to draft a document themselves, and to do it before the first meeting of the Far Eastern Commission, set for February 26, just one week away..... Thirty-nine articles dealt with what MacArthur called "basic human liberties," including not only most of the American bill of rights, but such things as universal adult suffrage, labor's right to organize, and a host of marriage and property rights for women.
But the most unique and one of the most important provisions came in Article 9, which outlawed the creation of armed forces and the right to make war.

There is nothing tolerant about Islam

The word "Islam" translates to "Submission", not "Peace".

The Islamic concept of "peace" is when everyone SUBMITS to Sharia law.

Your answer is better than Spencer's. I heard an Islamic scholar talk about the phrase, "Islam is Peace." He said it's a description of peace, not Islam. Peace is the result of Islamic justice. No justice, no peace.
