New photos of Saddam Hussein have been released by the Special Iraqi Tribunal investigating the former Iraqi leader. The three photos show him being questioned by Chief Investigative Judge Raid Juhi at an unknown location.
They are the first pictures of him to appear since May, when the Sun newspaper published leaked photos showing him doing his laundry in jail.
The US pledged it would investigate the leak of those photos, some of which showed Saddam Hussein half-naked.
Saddam Hussein is being held by US troops at an undisclosed location in Iraq as he awaits trial on numerous charges, including murdering rivals, gassing Iraqi Kurds and using violence to suppress uprisings.
The latest pictures, which show Saddam Hussein with a full beard, were taken on Tuesday, the tribunal said.
It is not clear when the Sun's photos were taken. There was speculation in May that they could be more than a year old, as they show Saddam Hussein with his former trademark moustache.

Are still giving him Doritos daily?
He has a far away look in his eyes.
Gee--I hope they're not being mean to him. SARCASM
pure evil
Yeah, the Charlie Manson look.
Looks like a glossy for a soap opera star.
He moved on to Cheetos now !!!
My nephew has been in Iraq/Afghanistan twice and he's going back again in January. On his last tour, him and his fellow soldiers "adopted" a pair of orphans: an eight year-old girl and her twelve year-old brother. Her parents, both sets of grandparents, and one brother and two sisters, and all kinds of other relatives were killed by Saddam's henchmen.
Their crime?
They were devout Christians.
Far too often we forget that Christians in Iraq were tortured and killed with a regularity UNMATCHED by any other religious sect when percentages of the population are considered . . . this includes all the atrocities inflicted on the Shiites.
I AM IN NO WAY SLIGHTING THE HORRORS SADDAM INFLICTED ON ALL HIS PEOPLE . . . I'm just trying to put them in a little perspective.
Sonya, her adopted name, and Mathew -- her brother, lived off whatever she and Mathew could scrounge from various trashcans at night.
They got their water straight from the Tigris River . . . maybe the Euphrates, I'm terrible at geography. But whichever river it is that runs through Samarra and Baghdad was the source of their water. My nephew said the water smelled like the cattle auction pens we have near our home in Texas and it has an oily "haze" on it.
They took shelter in a drainage pipe during the hot, HOT, HOT Iraqi days because they knew they would be killed on sight by Saddam's henchmen or their Sunni neighbors.
One of my nephew's comrads was returning from a mission one night and heard the unmistakable sound of footsteps and what he thought were the sounds of a round being chambered. It was a "hot" area and anything that moved was considered "hostile" until one proved otherwise. Only an American soldier would've waited in the middle-of-the-night, terrifying darkness before he killed his enemy. It HAD TO BE the enemy! Who else would be scrounging around at two-thirty in the morning in an area that everyone knew American soldiers were in? This young man had lost his best friend two weeks earlier to a bobby-trap on this same trail and, admittedly, had vengeance on his mind. His unit was lethal and some of the toughest forces we have in Iraq.
But this twenty-two year-old warrior waited patiently, hoping to kill as many of the terrorists as he could.
Then, through his night-vision goggles, he saw a bedraggled munchkin feeding an equally bedraggled youngster food from a can. Mathew was feeding Sonya from a discarded and smelly can of food . . . that was the sound of a "round being chambered."
They were adopted on the spot. Unbeknownst to anyone outside this close group of men, certainly unbeknownst to the Chain of Command, Mathew and Sonya even had their own tent when the soldiers were in a "static" situation. When they were all on patrol or doing what it is our warriors do, three Catholic nuns took care of them.
My nephew got an email from his buddy's wife last week.
Mathew and Sonya should be in the U.S. before Christmas . . . formally adopted by the young man who found them that dark night!
This young man is no longer eaten up with hate and vengeance. His wife writes in her email . . . "He can't afford to hate anymore. God gave us two children to raise and they have so much they have to overcome. They don't have a chance if their father doesn't set the right example for them."
Yes, I personally checked with her before I used her quote. There's a growing group of us families who are pooling the various emails we've received and, once the troubles are over in Afghanistan and Iraq, EVERY American will be astounded to read the many, many tales of goodness inherent in our soldiers. We plan on publishing a book . . . with ALL the proceeds being evenly divided by the families who lost loved ones in this cause.
God I love our soldiers. They might not be The Greatest Generation yet . . . but they're damn sure on their way. That this couple, in their early 20's, would heed God's call and give these children a future . . . brings tears to my eyes everytime I think about it. And I'm the world's worst cynic! It's wonderful to know our future rests with people who are far greater than I.
I've seen a lot of red Xes before but that's a real nice one too.
You're right.
Wow....what a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing it!
Queer Eye for the dictator?
oh nooooooooooooo!!!! He has fired all his lawyers!! They will have to hang him without a lawyer tied around his legs! He will strangle slowly rather than snap quickly!! :-(
The only picture I want to see of this a**hole is with a bullet hole in between his eyes or him hanging from a rope.
Thanks for that beautiful story, I'll never forget it.
#9 should make y'all feel better.
I for one am sick and tired of our President's pussy-footing around this issue.
As a country...as a free world...we need to hear the truth.
Either get behind the country and our system of government...or get out.
