My point here is that views of hatred for Iran, as have been displayed by many in this thread and other related ones, show such a single-threaded black-and-white view of the problem that removes any possibility of dialog with the people of Iran.

Where CAN you (Iranians) go when someone says "lets make a glass parking lot of your country"?

They have not exactly done stuff that would (in my book) deserve that sort of treatment. Especially not the vast majority of the 70 million people - around 75% of whom are below the age of 30 - and hold GREAT promise for future change. I simply cannot ascribe to this oh so easy view of yours "guilty by association". Surely you cannot REALLY TRUTHFULLY believe your own words?

Give them a chance. Things ARE changing. Slowly yes... not to "Our" timetable maybe... but things will change... for the better. In the end it may still not be our style of government... but hell... look at Iraq... what sort of government and constitution do YOU think is going to be the result of the WAR over there? It seems pretty likely it will be a government with a highly nonsecular Islamic structure. I doubt that was what Bush wanted... but that is likely what he'll get. $400 Billion for that?

I think we can spend a lot less on different "approaches" to the problem with Iran and end up with a far better result than we have in Iraq.

It may seem nice to lob bombs at everyone we disagree with... but come on... try harder will ya!

I wonder what you will say if an Iranian nuke goes off in, say
Israel, or the Vatican. They have the missiles and the range now.

Until a suitcase nuke in a major city or a missile is launched from a freighter 1500 to 1600 miles offshore at the continental US?

Unless they give it up, its just exchanging one level of Hell for another. Different politics, different demons, but they all stink.
