"Minuteman" Jim Gilchrist is my prospective opponent for California's 48th District U.S. House Rep. special election. Does anyone know what his stance is on the Iraq War? I for one firmly support the President and our operations in Iraq. What is Gilchrist's position on the war?
Thank you, J. Scott Davis

You insult the posters of FR. 95% of whom voted for George Bush and supported him in this war, and 90% who don't agree with him or YOU on immigration. You got that right.

Clinton failed to act as the al Queda terrorist organization gained momentum. Thus, the tragedy of 9/11.We agree on this. Every issue that Democrats and the left blame Bush for is in fact Clinton's fault..... Plain and simple!
The blame game can go on forever. Why stop at Clinton, why not bring up FDR, or Warren Harding? Bush has been in office since January 2001, at some point it stops being "someone else's mess." If not, I'd say that's tantamount to admitting that no President has any power to do anything positive, out of being too busy cleaning up after the previous President. Everyone takes the blame, no one takes the responsibility, so therefore...what?
And Iraq notwithstanding, any claim that the Department of Homeland Security is doing anything FOR our national security is...well, Tom Ridge helped cause a brief rise in sales of duct tape a couple of years ago, when he suggested to Americans that it would help protect against chemical or biological attacks. I wonder how much of that duct tape was purchased at Home Depot? You know, the company that sets up "employee lounges" for the "day laborers" that remain in the US (thanks to the DHS' lax enforcement policies) and ended up giving Ridge a job after he left the DHS. As for Asa Hutchinson, if you haven't this radio interview - http://www.johnandkenshow.com/audio/files/asahutchinson.wmx - check it out, the guy really sounds like he knows what he's doing.
I'm not trying to give you a hard time here, just pointing out that I don't agree with the statements you've made on this particular subject. But this is an Internet forum, and you have a campaign to run outside of it, so best of luck to you.

And yet, you continue to fixate on Pat "One Fourth of One Percent" Buchanan. That's the best he has. Bayourod is a one trick pony.

Unfortunately, that seems to be just the strategy the Administration is pursuing. We have not instituted the draft or commited 500,000 troops just yet, nor is that likely in the next few years.

There is a good start in the Kyl/Cornyn bill, but some on FR wish to smear these two good conservatives and their bill, just trying to keep their "issue" alive, knowing that their dream of a neo- 2,000 mile long Berlin wall will never come to fruition.

Are you saying that Asa Hutchinson with DHS is confronting and curbing illegal immigration?
To: fallujah-nuker
Yes, I would have to beat them all.
I was not aware that any official candidate list had been distributed. What is your source for this information? Some of these names are new.
To: cartman90210; bayourod
According to Hugh Hewitt, Jim Gilchrist has endorsed, higher taxes.
One of the Minutemen has decided to run for the seat as a candidate of the American Indepent Party, but Jim Gilchrist has endorsed higher taxes and won't raise much money.

No, I'm saying just the opposite. When I said that "the guy really sounds like he knows what he's doing," I was being sarcastic. Asa sounds as though he was completely unprepared to discuss the issues at hand (and, in effect, unprepared for his own job). It seems as though government hacks like Asa are so used to softball interviews from small-town media outlets ("Wow, someone from Washington, DC is granting us an interview, oooooooh, let's play nice so they come back again!"), and that's not what he got here. Regardless of how anyone here feels about John & Ken, it can't be denied that they refuse to play footsie with their interviewees, regardless of their political affiliation, and for that they deserve credit. Check it out for yourself, especially the last half where Asa really starts to unravel.

Gilchrist is not in my district, so I wouldn't be voting one way or the other in this election, and I have no interest in the American Independent Party, but thanks for the link anyway.

"I firmly support the Iraq War before, during, and after!"
I do not want to stay the course, I want to win.
I do not want to lose an infantryman doing the job of a B-52.
I'd rather flatten a mosque than lose men taking it.
I don't care if jihadists had underwear on their heads.
Lt. Colonel West and Lt. Pantano should be promoted, not subjected to the USMJ.
We should have given Fallujah the Dresden treatment.
The terrorists we capture are unlawful combatants, they are not entitled to Geneva. Interrogate by any means.
The Sunni triangle should be run by the Kurds, they were shown no mercy by the Sunnis, they will show none.
Mobs that cheer when our troops are killed should be machine gunned.
Sadr should be killed.
Enemy dead should be buried with pigs so they never get their 72 virgins and 28 young boys.
Terror is not the enemy, radical Islam is the enemy.
I don't care about the Arab street, I care about Main Street.
Clausewitz defined war as "an act of violence to compel our opponent to fulfill our will." PC war does not destroy the enemies will, its saps the will of our populace instead. If we pull out of Iraq there will be overwhelming pressure from the Sally Struthers crowd to allow in refugees from Iraq. Several million MOSLEM refugees.
Some that post here will be at their drums the loudest for allowing them in. We know who they would be.
The stakes are too high to fail. So just how do you support the Iraq War, do you measure the effort or the results? Do you support PC war, or do you want to take off the gloves and go for Victory?
The Romans had a saying, oderint dum metuant (let them hate us, so long as they fear us). Its a given they will hate us, all the Moslem's dancing for joy on 9-11 made that obvious. But we damned well better make sure they fear us.

Wasn't the purpose of the Berlin Wall to keep people from getting out? It still was a militarized wall and something Ronald Reagan was against and where he gave one of the most stirring speeches of his Presidency.
Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall.

Read it closer. It calls for a reduction in immigration. That is an anti-immigration position.A reduction is not the same as a moratorium. But hey, call it what you want.
Cilchrist isn't going to be able to hide from the AIP and its racist history.
And neither are you:

It sure looks to me as if Cindy Speaks For The Minuteman.Only in your delusional mind.
Pat Buchanan is the patriarch of the current anti-immigrant movement.
Most Americans aren't concerned with LEGAL immigration. They're concerned with ILLEGAL immigration.
It looks to me like Cindy Speaks For The Buchanan anti-illegals movement.
99.75% of Americans don't give a damn about Pat Buchanan or care about what his position is on any issue. It looks to me like you have an obsessive fixation on Pat Buchanan.
