"Minuteman" Jim Gilchrist is my prospective opponent for California's 48th District U.S. House Rep. special election. Does anyone know what his stance is on the Iraq War? I for one firmly support the President and our operations in Iraq. What is Gilchrist's position on the war?
Thank you, J. Scott Davis
I know Jim Gilchrist, and have had several conversations with him about this subject.
While he initially opposed going into Iraq, since we did he has stood unfailingly with the troops and fully supports staying the course until the mission is completed.
The man was wounded trying to save a buddy's life in 'Nam, and has been the one person most responsible for actually ACTING to bring attention to the situation on the border.
I don't think he has any explaining or apologizing to do to anyone, as the poster of this thread would seem to insinuate.
And, this poster still hasn't explained why he isn't on the ballot, but claims to be running.
Something more than a little bit fishy here, I would say.
Below is the official list of candidates who qualified for the ballot on Monday. Do you see this guy's name? I don't.
1) John Kelly, Republican
2) John Campbell, Republican
3) David Crouch, Republican
4) Bruce Cohen, Libertarian
5) Steve Young, Democrat
6) Don Udall, Republican
7) Bea Foster, Democrat
8) Scott Maccabe, Republican
9) Guy Mailly, Republican
10) Marsha Morris, Republican
11) Marilyn Brewer, Republican
12) Marshall Sanders, Republican
13) Edward Suppe, Republican
14) Tom Pallow, Democrat
15) Bea Tiritilli, Green
16) John Graham, Democrat
17) Jim Gilchrist, American Idependent
No he hasn't, my friend.
This is the third thread he's posted going after Jim Gilchrist in which I've asked him why he claims to be running in this race but yet is not one of the 17 qualified candidates whose filing period ended on Monday.
Well, JScott, what say you. Are you or are you not a real candidate?
We took you at your word and had reasoned discourse regarding it...please respond to this question by EternalVigilance.
Thank you for acknowledging the fact that I am a force in this election. You seem quite fired about the issue. I spoke to the California Secretary of State's office and was told that I have until September 20 to file.
Thank you! Nope, I don't see Mr. J. Scott Davis listed. LOL
You didn't have to go to the trouble of listing them all. LOL
Can you give me a link for the listing.
I was trying to find it with no success.
Thanks in advance.
Kelly
Okay, well I tell ya what Mr. J. Scott Davis, when you file get back to me and then we'll continue this discussion.
Semper Fi,
Kelly
Now state flat out that Gilchrist opposes the war and displays a liberal view on the issue. He's a liberal and that's why you are trying to psych me.
I firmly support the Iraq War before, during, and after!
I have no idea where you got the notion that I think you are 'a force in this election'.
You seem quite fired about the issue.
I'm 'fired about this issue' because I think Jim Gilchrist's election will be a powerful message to our national leaders about the importance of enforcing our immigration laws.
I spoke to the California Secretary of State's office and was told that I have until September 20 to file.
As a write-in candidate.
Good luck.
State your source! Why are you so threatened? Mr. Gilchrist is a liberal! Oh, I'm a veteran too.
Is that question on the application to have your name listed on the ballot?
Has Gilchrist indicated what party affiliation he is going to run on? What about you?
Let's see. He's 100% pro-life, pro-second amendment, a fundamental tax reformer, a constitutionalist...hmmmm....
He's as much a liberal as you are a candidate.
You should get around to posting Gilchrist's position on Iraq. That is a fairly hot button issue on FR. Just some friendly advice. It sure got hot today didn't it? I was rooting around in my firm's storage facility for some old files, having to lift boxes here and there. I sweated like a pig. The upside is that the experience didn't precipitate a coronary event. Cheers.
I have read your FR home page and agree with a whole lot of it...but have a real problem with this statement...
I'm pro-choice as a last resort and oppose late term abortions.
What does a last resort mean?
I am absolutely anti-abortion and pro-life. If the absolute LIFE of the mother is imperiled than I think that the mother and father and doctor have a discussion with one another and with God and make the decision...but this is the ONLY case where I personally can see any moral excuse for taking the life of a child, if it absolutrely a physical certainty that a birth, C-Section or otherwise, will kill the mother.
I just have a hard time squaring your statement which implies pro-choice on abortion outside of late-term, with your strong statments regarding violence to children.
Abortion is the ultimate violence to the most innocent and youngest children in our midst. Your statemnent sounds for all the world like you are being political about this most basic moral issue and trying to appeal to both sides. I cannot countenance such a position and please explain to me that it is not the case.
As a father of five children...I can say in each instance that the child is alive in the wound and at a very early stage recognizes its surrounding and respondes to the loving touches and sounds of its parents.
All party affiliations are listed on the ballot, or decline to state. Write ins or course are not listed at all, so well no party affiliation is listed either.
Especially if a person supports illegal immigration, which no American should.
Glad you survived! :-)
I did post Jim's exact position on the war upthread.
It is an honorable position, and one I can respect even if he and I disagreed initially.
But, patriot that he is, once the first shot was fired, there hasn't been a dime's worth of difference between us. He stands with the troops and with carrying the mission to its completion, whenever that is.
Thanks. I missed that post.
You guys had some great posts BTW! ;)
