If the Carter admin had not dismamtled and destroyed our spy system within the CIA - 9/11 would might have been discovered in time to stop it .. why?? Because we would have had our ear to the ground and we would have cultivated people within Iraq who would have been able to give us better intelligence.
Spies are very important.
It's perfectly legitimate to use secret agents against tratiors. Sometimes it's the only way to root them out.
Funny, I was thinking last night I hope the US has lots of good spies to help us win this war in the Middle East. The US has always used spies.
