I have a question about the SuperDome. Isn't the dome/roof made of plastic or fabric? Is that going to hold up in heavy winds?

Sorry, MizSterious, I know nothing about the SuperDome, I live up near the Canadian border. Perhaps another Freeper can answer your question.

You may be thinking the Metrodome in Minneapolis, or some of the other newer domed stadiums. I'm pretty sure the Superdome roof is concrete and steel, at least it looks like it from all the pictures I've seen.

I'm gobsmacked by this hurricane. Last I heard it was at 110 mph, now 175 and strengthening? Oh my God.

I think the roof is a sprayed on material with the structure made of steel.

The SUperdome was designed from the ground-up to be a hurricane shelter.
