So what part of "I strongly disagree with the President's policies on the border" didn't you understand?

We are not talking about the mere politics of supporting or opposing Bush's (wrongheaded) policies on immigration. We are talking about calling for the impeachment of the President of the United States during a time of war, with the full knowledge of what the liberal media will do with such a declaration. Buchanan apparently simply doesn't care, as long as he gets the media attention he craves.

Good luck trying to brand me as a RINO, though. (I got a good laugh out of that one.)

"But Buchananites found out that by voting for the lesser of two evils in the last election, they got evil."

I think it was more the choice between "Dumb and dumber", with the public choosing the lesser of two idiots cause they'd figure he'd do less damage. Which is the really sad state of politics these days. When both candidates are considered worthless. We'll just have to hope some common sense is shown in 2008, assuming Bush doesn't botch things up enough to get the House and/or Senate turned over to Dem control, or we get nuked by a terrorist. So far the only Republican of any real worth that I could see as the next President would be US Rep. Duncan Hunter. With Tom Tancredo put in charge of Homeland Security.

Do you support the rule of law and the constitution or do you support illegal immigration?

That's the question. Talking about WW II, which was over 60 years ago, is irrelevant. I don't care what Pat or you think about the War of the Roses or WW II, I care what happens today.

We've been lucky the Dems haven't Demagogued this issue. If they ever get smart, and come out for controlling our borders, they will clean our clock on this issue in 2008, and you can say hello to President Hillary.

What is it with you Buchananites? Have you even read what I said about the President's policies on illegal immigration?

Buchanan's idiotic comments on impeaching the president are what I'm talking about. Can't you understand that? He's nothing more than a media whore, perfectly willing to say outrageous things (whether it be about WWII or impeaching Bush) in exchange for media coverage. Apparently, he's got a fair amount of people on FR who are just willing to nod in agreement with everything he says.

I used to like Pat Buchanan but have to say now that he talks like someone that is 4 cents short of a dime.

"We are talking about calling for the impeachment of the President of the United States during a time of war, with the full knowledge of what the liberal media will do with such a declaration."

They won't do squat with such a declaration because they were hand-in-hand with the RINO Repub leadership in making sure than Buchanan was as thouroughly demonized as possible. Bush's own stupidity will damage him more than anything Pat could possibly do.

"Buchanan apparently simply doesn't care, as long as he gets the media attention he craves."

The only thing Buchanan craves is saving this nation from the idiotic stupidity of free trade and open borders policies.

In 1965,.....a bunch of left-wing wonks worked up..

"The Immigration Reform Act."

..and we opened the floodgates that held back the Third World. 10 million illegal aliens?

Bingo! That is exactly where a person should start to "Google", to begin to find the origins of the mess we are in. The Immigration Act of 1965 needs to be amended. Severely.

What did you say on illegal immigration? Please provide the post number.

The column was about ILLEGAL immigration. Why do you keep making ad hominumn attacks on the writer and bringing up WW II?

Some of us think ILLEGAL immigration and the rule of law is important. Do you ? Hysterical chatter - about WW II and our being at war - doesn't make any sense.

What is your position, no one can attack GWB on any issue because, "we're at war"?

If you look at posts 155, 157 and 161, you'll see that I strongly disagree with the President's policies on Illegal Immigration.

I brought up Pat's comments on WWII in response to a post in which the writer indicated that the Buchananites voted for Bush as the lesser of two evils and found that they'd voted for evil, or something to that effect.

Yeah. PJB's leading the group off the cliff.

Bush, on the other hand, is leading the BushBots by the nose--and turning the Southwest into Mexifornia.

PS: How's your nose feel?

"This issue is not going to split or weaken the Rep vote. Is the thinking that if one does not agree with the President on certain issues, the next logical step is to remove all support?!!?"

When you see him slowly transforming into a Democrat, what's the point of continuing to support him? I'll leave my support, and hopes, for a true conservative like Duncan Hunter in 2008.

Thanks for the cites. You state you disagree with Bush's policy on illegal immigration. What do you think we should do about it?

a)Criticize Bush for doing nothing to enfore the law; or
b)do nothing; or
c)do nothing - and insult and attack anyone who DOES criticize Bush's position on illegal immigration.

There seem to be a lot of RINO's on FR who choose position c.

Pat is a funny guy...and wrong on a lot of issues. But not this one. His thinking might be like mine. (There is a scary thought). If a WMD attack occurs in this country and it is found out that the weapon and attackers came over our southern border...I will call for W's impeachment.

And guess what? He'll be impeached. It is HIS responsibility to deal with this national security issue. If he does not correct the situation...it will be his fault. The majority of Americans will see it that way...and so will I. Conviction is another matter. If it is a nuclear event...he will be convicted...if not; no conviction. Depends on the body count and the level of American anger.

This is not a game. Illegal aliens are now a threat to our economic and national security. The are driving down wages, bringing in long defeated diseases, and increasing our costs of health care 20 fold.

How Pat (has been) Buchanan likes to phrase it is wonderful to criticize and joke about. But the issue is not a f#!#ing joke. It's an invasion. And the President is doing nothing. NOTHING.

I voted for the guy, love the guy, and agree with the majority of his positions...but the President is not doing the nation right by ignoring this problem. It is life or death. He could very well be impeached over this. And somebody has to tell him that. If not the ones who back him...who? Nuts like Pat?

JEDI.

I think calling for Bush's impeachment over the immigration issue is a great idea, and the best I have heard so far for getting his attention. He can either deal with the problem, or he can get the heck out of the way. Hopefully, whomever replaces him will take the problem seriously, even if its just to avoid the same fate.

If Bush gets his amnesty thing, there's no way I will support the republican party during an election. I only voted for Bush this last time because I figure he was the lesser of two evils. I'm not going that route anymore.

I don't see much difference between the republican and democratic parties. They both lie through thier teeth to get elected and then its four more years of the same old crap of the pot calling the kettle black.

Both parties foster corruption and deceit, and if either had any integrity whatsoever, they would expose the corruption in thier own parties and dealings rather than wait for the opposing party to do it for them.

I don't give a darn what the liberal media does, if Bush wants to keep his job, he better get to work, war-time or not.

I think Pat was wrong to use the "I" word, but I agree 100% with this paragraph: "We are being invaded," the reactionary Republican declared in his column Monday, "and the president of the United States is not doing his duty to protect the states against that invasion." If it takes the "I" word to get his attention, then so be it. If Bush winds up getting impeached for dereliction of duty, thats his choice.

Once again Pat hits a home run. You cannot defend Bush on the border issue, the most IMPORTANT issue facing this country. The border, a push for a north American alliance with Mexico and Canada, uncontrolled spending, and a questionable war. But we did get a paltry tax cut!
