That LG6 engine is one of the best GM ever made. I have a '91 Lumina with 200K+ that I only keep around because the engine is still strong.

and I, sir am not an idiot, so to prevent myself from being an idiot I do not argue with one.

My apologies.

I was slightly frosted by the looters>consumers analogy.

I don't think that there's any comparison whatsoever, so I ask that you extrapolate on this comment.

I.m in York, SC - just outside Charlotte. As of around 9:00, there was only one station in town with gas. People were lined up, all they had was premium at about $3:40/gallon. The dude inside said they weren't expecting any new shipments for at least a week.

On Sunday afternoon I filled up our tank, thanks to the warnings from fellow FReepers. It was 2.53 a gallon for regular (we are in central New Jersey). Today I noticed regular up to $3/gallon. I was just talking to friend of mine tonight who works further north in Bergen county where the prices are also up to $3. He said that during lunch today many of his co-workers went to get gas but the gas stations were already sold out.

First station we went to this AM in Waldwick NJ (Bergen county) was open but all the gas lanes were closed with orange cones blocking the way. The attendant was paying no attention to people coming in for gas, figuring they would figure it out that there was none. When asked he said there was no gas now, but would be getting some tomorrow.
A mile or two away in my own town of Allendale, there was
gas but the price went up to 2.79 from $2.67 yesterday. We filled up , figuring it would just be higher tomorrow. It will, and I will check.

Here in Ballentine, SC, we paid $3.17 at the local Shell station. Regular was $2.99, but there wasn't any to be had. We also had to wait in line and this was at 9:45PM this evening with cars continuing to pull in after we left.

Want the price to go down?

Use less gas and heating oil. In my case I'll be burning a lot of wood this winter.

Crown Point Indiana 3.17 to 3.19
Merrillville IN 2.99 to 3.29

I spoke with a independent dealer, he says the big oil BP, Shell etc are holding back supplies from the independents.
That way they keep their prices around $3.00 and more expensive for the independents. Say's he feels like they are trying to squeeze out the smaller independent players.

Based on the local prices, His comments ring true. $2.99 price was at a BP/Amoco located on US 30/Mississippi St, off I-65 in Merrillville. Highest prices were at the independent stations.

Silly boy you got so much to live for
So much to aim for, so much to try for
You blowing it all with paranoia
You’re so insecure you self-destroyer

Paranoia, the destroyer

Dr. dr. help me please, I know you’ll understand
There’s a time device inside of me, I’m a self-destructin’ man
There’s a red, under my bed
And there’s a little green man in my head
And he said, you’re not goin’ crazy, you’re just a bit sad
’cause there’s a man in ya, knawin’ ya, tearin’ ya into two.

Silly boy ya’ self-destroyer.
Paranoia, the destroyer

Self-destroyer, wreck your health
Destroy friends, destroy yourself
The time device of self-destruction

$2.89 Des Moines area.
Saw a lady pull into the gas station tonight. I looked over and she had her trunk full of plastic gas cans. I thought this is great, people start doing stuff like this and we will have a real problem.
So I loudly said to my son who was with me, "I hate paying $2.89 for gas when it will be down .20 tommorrow."
Well she did drive away without buying gas. I don't know why she did; but people really need to not panic.

In Northern California I just paid 2.83 a gallon

All of our gas on the Left Coast comes from Alaska. We may be a bit better off than most right now.
