he WAS whining, but you have to admit, you get a little frantic watching the dregs going even further down down down.......he was definately caught up in their misery.....perhaps if he had been stationed in downtown NO like Palcott and saw the looting and heard the gunshots...

But the President should still put gas rationing into effect at least for one month!

Some have stopped and will be a while getting back on line. Not too long from what I hear. Time is money.

Cool. Do you think you could hire a backhoe to dig down and tap about 10,000 gallons of gasoline for me? LOL.

All I know is I decided to top up at Sam's club for $2.85/gal, then found the Citgo station up the road was at $2.55/gal! Frustrated and Embarassed!

Is there input for the pipeline? What's the status of the refineries?

Darn... I was so looking forward to driving to work and sitting by my car with a shotgun to prevent people from syphoning gas from my SUV.

The Iraqi pipelines have sometimes been put out of commission for days, weeks, or even months.

Oh that's good. Let's allow the government to ration gas and further limit free enterprise in this nation shall we? At no point, except in a time of war (which we aren't and even then only under extremely limited conditions) should the government have any control over the supply or demand of a consumer good

On the other hand, Wal-Mart just gave $1 million to the Salvation Army. How much did Citgo give?

How? In a day filled with hysterical posts about the end of civilization as we know it, you post ranks up near the top.

It would take weeks to put the system in place; coupons, scheduling, etc. Not to mention the fact that it is not necessary and carries a stiffer penalty to the economy than the market force approach.

Capline runs north from the New Orleans area and delivers crude oil into mid-continent refining centers. Colonial pipeline runs from Houston thru Atlanta then on to New York. Colonial delivers gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel and jet fuel to the North East. Plantation pipeline runs from Baton Rouge to New York and also delivers finished products.

I picked $3.02 over $2.82 across the street this afternoon because I didn't want to wait in the long line that was forming for the cheaper (Citgo) gas at 7-11. I was more interested in topping off the tank and making sure I had something than saving a few cents at this point.

When supplies are more certain, I'll start shopping price again.

That's great. Now let's hope we can see gas DROP $.30 a gallon in one day.
