"Apparently the Mayor and Governor believe that the creation of The Homeland Security Dept. absolved them of any responsibility."

I heard someone tonight, Andrea Mitchell, I think, say on national television that it WAS Homeland Security's responsibility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell, when I was in Nam I slept on the ground most of the time, even during monsoon season.

This is your welfare mentality at its best. They have no survival skills, except to locate the welfare office and hold onto the food stamps.

"Get off your asses and let's do something," the mayor told WWL-AM Thursday night in a rambling interview in which he cursed, yelled and ultimately burst into tears.

I wonder if he can curse and cry loud enough to deflect attention away from his utter failure as mayor. He has a willing media.

The buses weren't flooded when they could have been commandeered for an evacuation of people who didn't have cars. I'd LOVE to see the N. O. emergency management plan. And I'd love to know if the mayor ever read it.

We've been sleeping on the ... ground like rats," Levy said. "I say burn this whole ... city down."

Idiot. Your city is ALREADY destroyed.

Lets look at the skills and abilities demonsrated by citizens of NO.

(1) Upon told to evacuate...at least 100,000 refused. When offered buses to leave...they choose to stay, and went to the Super Dome. Lack of care about your safety.

(2) The Super Dome was designed to withstand a top notch hurricane...but it was never built to be a week-long sleeping or shelter point for 50,000 people. The leadership in NO couldn't see that issue.

(3) The police allowed the citizens over the years to run as wild or free as they want. The citizens accepted as being normal. Their mindset...if the cops are standing in front of Wal-Mart, then you can rob that place anytime you want.

(4) After the hurricane...they sat and waited. Few of the folks at the Dome attempted push out and leave the area...like those you saw in 9-11 who walked 5 to 10 miles to get home that day.

(5) Upon discovery that their own city rescue services couldn't function (actually, after the shots were fired...a number of the cops handed in their badges and left)...these citizens sat there and went to the blame game. Got to have the Feds save me now. Its an attitude you can't find in Oklahoma or NY city or even Little Rock. But its the name of the game in NO.

(6) You build a city and multi-million dollar businesses below sea-level, and you don't plan for the absolute worst case scenario of massive flood. No foresight or common sense.

(7) You will expect the Feds to rebuild everything the way it was before...out of the Fed budget.

(8) You elect an individual as mayor who has no clear leadership ability but he knows how to arrange corrupt contracts and talk a good talk. And you do the same for the governor...who is nowhere near as capable as the other 49 governors.

(9) You allow young punks from your neighobrhood to act like immature adults and get away with it. You allow drugs to become commmonplace and simply look the other way.

(10) Instead of organizing in their neighborhood or area, and helping one another...they wanted a "John Wayne-dude" to take charge and just tell them what to do. They had no ability to care for one another unless they were told how to do it.

This is not Florida or South Carolina...this is not Mobile or Mytrle Beach...this is not your typical average environment. These people are special. The sooner we realize this...the sooner that we can move on.

"Maybe if they got off their asses they could have found some equipment and cleaned enough of the Superdome so they would have had to be in squalor. I bet a brrom and mop never occurred to them. Waiting for someone else to do it".

Exactly correct! The people in AL and MS are in dire straights too and they never said things like that nor did you hear of them raping, murdering, stabbing their own like the people did in New Orleans superdome.

And the states guard is ordered by whom????

Oh yeah...the state governors...in this case Ms. Blanco. I heard some democratic congresscritter trying to tell Ted Koppell that it shouldn't be her fault if she didn't know exactly "what" to ask for...

"We've been sleeping on the ... ground like rats," Levy said. "I say burn this whole ... city down."

As much as the MSM and the Black politicians want to make this a racial issue, we see through quotes like this what's really in the core of someone's being when under pressure...destroy everything of mine and everyone elses and then demand that I be given something new in return.

"I say burn this whole ... city down."

I agree, but only after we fill it back up with vermin such as this guy.

I'll bet the hand has been extended for MOST of his life already. People that are hard-working responsible members of society don't behave this way.
