Bush will turn over Monday to Louisiana and in Mississippi

WASHINGTON - president George W. Bush will turn over Monday to Louisiana and in Mississippi in the zones devastated by the Katrina cyclone, to Saturday the spokesman of the White House announced, Scott McClellan.

"It will go to Louisiana and in Mississippi", the spokesman said, adding that the choice of the places where the president would go precisely depended on the evolution of the situation on the ground.

George W. Bush had gone Friday in the areas disaster victims of the south of the United States, for the first time since the passage of the cyclone Katrina Monday. It paid visits in Alabama, Mississippi and in Louisiana. It was with the airport of New-Orleans (Louisiana) but had not gone in the downtown area, being satisfied with an overflight in the helicopter.

Saturday morning, it announced the sending of more than 7.000 soldiers in the south of the United States in reinforcement of the units already mobilized to come to assistance of the disaster victims.

According to an American member of Parliament, the cyclone would have made more than 10.000 died in only Louisiana.

The deathocrats are playing politics with Katrina. Earlier in the week one democrat radio talk show host urged people NOT to give to the hurricane relief so that "big oil" would be forced to pay. They are sick and need to be exposed in ALL places online.

Question,

President Bush is blamed for the disaster in NOLA because he cut the funding for the levees to support his "illegal war" in Iraq.

In 1975 the citizenry of NOLA decided they wanted a football stadium. The cost $135,000,000.00. That is $481,293,774.13 in todays dollars. Why weren't the citizens of NOLA as concerned about building levees as they were a football stadium? If they could raise that much money for sporting events, why couldn't they raise it for their own protection, why was the rest of America supposed to foot the bill?

I believe Haley Barbour asked that he not go to MS.

If I am wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. ;o)

Wednesday would have been better, but I don't think it was a safe for Bush to be on the ground.

Listening to DHS Sec Chertoff talking right now to the press. He's made a good case for the confluence of events that transpired with hurricane Katrina hitting the gulf coast and the levees busting open. An "ultra catastrophe", as he called it.

Let's see...on an earlier thread we were told by some of our elected officials (the Congressional Black Caucus and the Mayor of New Orleans) and a titan of the entertainment world (Kayne West) just how uncaring this president is towards people suffering in this region of the country, and someone else (possibly a DU Lurker) even went as far to say that President Bush reacted much faster to the tragedy of Hurricane Ivan, since his brother is the governor of Florida.

...Somehow this just doesn't add up.

No one on earth can possibly predict or calculate the depths of any national disaster, specifically any elected official. Having said that, however, as many probably know by seeing the photograph of hundreds of empty school buses sitting in flood water, the Mayor of New Orleans could have at least mobilized an effort to get those who were without private transportation, or too sick and elderly all evacuated while the warnings were being broadcast. As a former mayor said on the radio yesterday, it does start at the local (city or town) level, then the state steps in, followed by the Feds. All of the hysterics and drivel being spewed by the Left isn't going to amount to a hill of beans for those adversely affected by Katrina.

They may have done so, but the Governors also reportedly asked he not arrive then because they couldn't handle the strain of his presence on their resources at the time. Friday was still pretty hectic, but better.

Had it just been his advisors, G.W. probably would have overruled them but he defered to the Governors and rescue efforts.
