LAPD was ordered out, as I recall. They used to be pretty tough group when I was growing up in the 50s and 60s. Especially tough on gangs AND the Mob. It was quite nice before the lib mentality polluted everything after Vietnam era.

I remember the night that the announcement of his death was broadcast. My first thought was,"There's someone who is in hell now."

More like continuous, with the news putting something out upon occation.

Neat place to visit (in large numbers in daylight) years ago, for the last 10 years have refused to fly through the NO airport for fear of being stuck there.

FWIW, most citys this size have problems, next time you travel carry a scanner & listen in, pretty educational.

Oklahoma has yet to this day to receive a request from the dingbat Governor of LA. They sent the troops at the request of FEMA and had to have an emergency order to do that. If they waited for dingbat, our troops would never have been sent to LA.

Search and rescue of the Coast Guard were there as part of Homeland Security to help out. They didn't wait for the dingbat LA Governor to make the request of Pres Bush but were sent in right away to help all along the Gulf Coast.

If they waited for a request from the dingbat, they would have waited until Friday. Most incompetent group of elected officials most of us have ever witnessed. LA voters should hang their head in shame for putting that dingbat Governor in when they had a chance to elect someone with integrity.

But then the same corrupt elected and appointed officials are the ones that made sure there were enough buses to bus everyone to the polls to vote and then vote again but somehow misplaced all those buses when it came time to evacuate.

Thoroughly disgusted with the lack of leadership shown in New Orleans from the Mayor to the Governor while at the same time blaming the Feds for what they should have been doing. Disgusting liberals!

Poor Mississippi is being ignored by the MSM in favor of the crime infested New Orleans. Weren't a lot of people displaced in MS also black. Why are the New Orleans people favored over the people from MS?

Heh. The wife said the other night out of exasperation at the inaction of the NO and Louisiana authorities, "It's not any surprise at all that they have French blood in them."

Another reason for the cops to take off is that they know how crime ridden New Orleans was and they wanted to get themselves and families out of harm's way. After what we have witnessed, cannot say that I blame them one bit. They know the city much better than any of us that don't live there. The cops that stayed turned a blind eye to looting of TV's, electronics, and everything else you could take and sell including cars and it has turned into a nightmare.

The more I read about George Washington, the more I admire him.

Did you know that Kipling's famous poem "If" was written about George Washington? Fits him to a "t" . . . it's really too bad the poem has been "anthologized to weariness," as Kipling himself said.

I won't give one red cent to any outfit that will be handing it out in NO--I have given the cost of my military reunion in Florida next month (which I will not be attending so gas will be available for those who WORK in our country that really need it) to my service organization for the Coast Guard members who lost their homes, etc. in the area--at least I know just how the money will be used and who it will go to (these guys and gals are not on welfare either)

I truly fear that the truth will NOT get out. The MSM is determined to take Bush down. The NO government is determined to pass the buck.

Whatever mistakes FEMA made, or the NG, or the Federal government will be blown up way out of proportion. Those made by LA officials will be minimized and whe nation will pay for it when people turn against Bush and the GOP.

I really pray that I am wrong!

Oklahoma has yet to this day to receive a request from the dingbat Governor of LA. They sent the troops at the request of FEMA and had to have an emergency order to do that. If they waited for dingbat, our troops would never have been sent to LA.

Bob Livingston (R -La) and several others called the Governor of Louisiana the day BEFORE the hurricane and requested that she declare Marshall Law and request help from the National Guard from surrounding states. She ignored them all.

The local cities in Louisiana around N.O. KNOW how N.O. has always been run and who those people in the dome are who are *itching about how they are being "treated". In fact, the Mayor of Monroe, La. said he wasn't sending any buses to pick up the thugs from N.O. He didn't want them in his city!

Baton Rouge's population has doubled in just the last few days, pop. 250,000 to 500,000. Look for that city to turn into the next N.O.

BTW, when you hear "reporters" say they don't know where these people in the dome are going to find jobs, just ignore them. THEY NEVER HAD JOBS IN THE FIRST PLACE! All they need to find out is where to send their government checks!

I also wonder where the mafia located in N.O. moved to?!

Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi Regional offices of the DEA, FBI, ATF, etc. were located in N.O. too.

I watched a group of 5 or 6 NO cops who were real heroes. They stayed with people and protected them from beginning to end. I am not willing to paint all of them with the same brush.

The was not reported collapsed until Tuesday morning. What on earth is this man talking about, "we expected help in the first 3 days."

The real question is, why is it that after all this time, Louisiana STILL can't figure out what drawer its Evacuation Plan is laying in.

I don't think that the USCG needs local permission to effect rescues.

I wanted that bolded so maybe people will read. I had a bad feeling when I heard the Houston police had found weapons thrown in the bushes. These thugs blended in and now have a new stomping ground -- why work when you can bully and steal?

Forgot about the Mafia -- wonder if their HQ got flooded. What a bunch of lowlifes made up a large portion of the city.

Baton Rouge is a beautiful city and would hate to see these people ruin the city. Yours is not the only post I have seen like this. Scarey that these folks are now being sent elsewhere.

I believe you rank Lincoln, Washington and FDR as the three greatest presidents. Who would you rank #4? You probably already know what I would answer.

I'm not either and it's heartbreaking to think of those cops that possibly drowned in their homes because they intended to do their duty the next day.

Probably the Teddy Roosevelt. But it is a very close race. Once can make a case for Reagan, one can make a case for Wilson, one can make a case for Truman, one can make a case for Eisenhower, but my pick is TDR. The THREE are in a class alone. None come near, as presidents.
