One of the unfortunate diseases of the body politic has been the increasing politicalization of the US Supreme Court. This was not caused by conservatives; however, perhaps it should be solved by a conservative President.
One outstanding chance is now upon us. Most likely, President Bush will take the safe road and go through the political gauntlet and appoint a known conservative judge. What we really need is a break in the partisanship of the appointment process. Nominating former President Clinton would give everyone pause and begin a process where politicians (mostly, but not exclusively Democrats) can cease making efforts to please narrow interest groups in the selection process.
I know former President Clinton has personal flaws. I also know his reputation for politically catering to the pro-choicers and so forth. If any of you know a successful politiican, you know how much many of them hate being jerked around by special interest groups. I do believe Clinton began as a centrist in his party and did sign the welfare reform bill and so forth.
I could give his other qualifications, but I will leave it here.
Are you feeling okay?
You sound like you are suffering from Nagin's Disease...relax...turn off the Geraldo...I promise you there will be no riots.
You can't have your pudding unless you eat your meat.
I didn't know that today was April Fools Day.
Thanks for the posting. After all the depressing news, we could all use a good laugh.
Did something fall on your head this morning?
YEAH, ARE YOU FEELING OK?
Have we ever had a Supreme Court Justice who was disbarred from practicing law as a penalty for perjury?
ROFLMAO!!
Shrinker, you off your meds again??
Please don't use Vanity posts for Stupidity posts.
disbarred attorneys are always at the top of my list for USSC vacancies.
Bill Clinton, yeah, he'd bring us together.
He'd make a good chief judge of a wet T-shirt contest, so long he was tied to his chair, or maybe - and I'd vote for him on this one, and it'scertainly job he'd prefer - America's Best Cheeseburger or Best Jelly onut.
But the SCOTUS?
I just don't like the idea of him a robe. I want his hands in full view at all times.
This calls to mind >>>

Are you sure you screen name isn't spelled shrinkingmind?
It could be difficult to get him confirmed since he was disbarred from the court for perjury in 2000 or so.
LOL! This is good stuff with a certain irony all it's own. Let's see, a Supreme Court justice who, prior to appointment, was disbarred from presenting cases to the Supreme Court.
You're low on caffeine. Go get some coffee. We'll wait for you.
-One of the unfortunate diseases of the body politic...-
Klintoon has done his share of spreading diseases, methinks.
Bill Clinton doesn't have a law license and was disbarred by the SCOTUS.

"I know former President Clinton has personal flaws"
Actually, I know President Clinton has personal strengths -- although frankly I "can't recall" any at the moment. So I shall have to mega-veto your nomination.
Unggggggggh!
The only place I would "appoint" that lowlife is to a cell in a federal prison - for LIFETIME appointment.
Physician, heal thyself.
Tut tut. Clinton tells lies. Big deal.
picky picky picky
He lost his law license to practice law...so he's not morally fit to be SJOSC
LOL! We don't need his personal flaws in the Supreme Court. Hopefully you were jesting.
Sunday Comics!
Thanks for the laff riot.
Justices of the Supreme Court should have a strong intellect, stamina for heavy intellectual reading and assimilation of complex ideas, respect for the law and personal integrity that will prevent them from being swayed to the left or to the right by political expedience.
President Clinton certainly has the first, and he may have the second. I think it's obvious to everyone who was alive during at least President Clinton's second term that he has neither no. 3 nor no. 4.
I don't know what you're smoking, but you should check; it's probably illegal to have it in your possession.
Slowly step away from your computer, go get a big glass of water, sit in a cool place and drink it.
You obviously are dehydrated and are starting to suffer dementia.
Just joking, but seriously though, a man who was impeached and who lied to a grand jury being appointed as Supreme Court Justice, you've got to be kidding.
Big Deal if you tell lies under oath to a grand jury. Try it.
Are you kidding? Can you imagine the constitutional crisis we'll have when Ruth Bader Ginsberg files sexual harassment charges against Chief Justice Clinton? Do you really want that??
I42 is barred from lawyering at the supreme court.
disbarred, randy, negligent, allowed-9/11, gave-secrets-to-China, yeah, he sounds right for a nomination............
woke up on the wrong side
Wow they really let you have online access in a padded cell?
great idea, once he gets his law license back from suspension for lying to a grand jury.
I'm yanking your chain. No thanks.
You are not much of a conservative if you propose putting Clinton on the court. That is the dumbest idea I have heard yet.
Putting more important points aside temporarily, one could state that the last thing one needs in a Chief Justice (or any other top functionary) is overweening ego - they tend to develop it soon enough, so the less of it they start with, the better. This kind of what you call "personal flaws" ["because I could do it"] is to be considered absolutely disqualifying, even before one goes into technicalities like his disbarment. Therefore, your post is to be charitably considered as a piece of irony.
does Hillary have your FBI file?
Take a week off and you will be your old self in no time
We can't have a CJ who will wear nothing under his robe.
It absolutely must be nominated for the freeper Vanity Hall of Plame.
Leni
I...don't...think so.
Ginsburg better watch out...
Blasphemy.
He can't even practice law in front of them. You want him in the court after commiting perjury?
