"As the husband of a wife who is strong and self-made, I can say this: Govornor, you are a disgrace to every strong American woman who has worked hard, raised a family and plants their feet firmly and makes decisions daily on the management of their family. Get lost."

You and ME BOTH!

I will follow a good leader no matter if they are Female or Male...and if there is NO GREAT leader to follow...then get out of the way..I will make my OWN decisions, thank you. And they will NOT BE ONES where I am CRYIN' on the TV about how no one is HELPING ME!
And in our house...we live paycheck to paycheck too..
But, there is enough food and supplies (gotta get more water) to survive the "Seattle Earthquake" that is always predicted...when that big one comes..there WILL NOT be 3+ days of warning!
I understand that there is a BIG difference with all of the flooding...the main one being that I WOULD HAVE SOME WARNING!
If we had too, we would have loaded up the stroller, loaded up the rolling suitcases and the backpacks and gotten the "HECK" out of here~
Diapers are a problem though..the are so big and bulky...hard to choose between diapers and food!
But we would have made it out~ no doubt in my mine...
Of course, it doesn't hurt that my husband is in the military! :-)

Thanks for your post!
I have been thinking the same thing as I have been reading about how the "women" and "girly men" need a "Strong man" to follow...maybe the "girly women" do...but WE are not those "Girly women" now, are we????

"Finally, a black male who can be an example to put in front of the lazy-a$$ed, sperm-spreading, shiftless, low-life black males in the black 'community' that are a disgrace to every respectable black family in America."

Ditto, as an example for the WHITE TRASHY neighbors we used to have!

****Honore is winning over even some of the government's harshest critics, including New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, who blasted the Bush administration's initial response to his city's disaster. ******

Ray Nagin is a critic??? Dont make me laugh. He should be arrested for incompetence. While people were dying he ran off to bato Rouge. What a POS.

Ray Nagin is trying to cover up his own incompetence by passing out blame on anyone he can think of.

Yep, let canary Nagin keep singing. It's all being duly documented and filed.

"He came off the doggone chopper, and he started cussing, and people started moving,"

Sometimes that is exactly what is needed. Someone to kick people in the @ss and get them moving in a coordinated manner.

No kidding. I read people really well. As I watched him in action on tv, the General has a steel rebar for a spine and brass you know whats. I can tell he has the strength and determination to squash any petty distracter(s) inteferring with rescue and relief efforts between his index finger and thumb.

this guy is great. he's saying that the "late" response was completely understandable. the media has hyped him in the past few days. it will be interesting to see how they treat these remarks. go general!

Maybe don't you be messing with John-Wayne dudes. I think that the idea, and if the Nagin "dude" is smart he'll stay on board with the general. From what we've heard, it sound as if Gen Honore has more that the average allowance of common sense as well as the necessary grit..

Perhaps Nagin's sole moment of lucidity in this entire crisis:

I give the president some credit on this.
He sent one John Wayne dude down here

"Proud wife" I salute you and trust that the MSgt is fully aware of the gem he has.

You are so right. My little family lost everything in the big S.F. Fire some years ago, which started at 8 am on a Sunday morning and by 11 am everything we owned was gone - not much 'warning' since we were, unfortunately, out of town. BTW, be sure to either put your photo negatives/CD in your safe deposit box or set aside some favorite photos to take along in your escape - we'd give anything to have even a couple of photos of the kids when they were little. God bless.

We shouldn't forget that the General was the one who stopped Brown from closing down the airport for security reasons. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall during their conversation. LOL

Brown is head of FEMA. He was going to shut down the airport just as it was beginning to be opened for air traffic because of security concerns. He hadn't a clue, really. This general told him to stop the order and he was coming down immediately.

When it became apparent that the mayor and governor of La. was incapable of handling the crises Pres. Bush probably called Rumsfield and asked him." Who would send in there to take charge of this mess?".

President Bush is showing the country what true leadership is all about. There will come a time people will be glad Bush won relection.

"He came off the doggone chopper, and he started cussing, and people started moving," Nagin told a radio station. "I give the president some credit on this. He sent one John Wayne dude down here that can get some stuff done."

Funny how the earlier report on this story repeated Nagin's quote without the part in bold. ;)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORDS Hard working!
MSgt is GOOD about recognizing that he has a good wife (especially when I am sure to remind him ;-)
YOU sound like you have the RIGHT screen-name!

I AM SOOOO sad about your belongings that were lost in the fire! That must have been TERRIBLE! And the PICTURES! So very sad...I have always been worried about that...so a friend and I trade negatives...which I would have NEVER thought to do...but I started scrap booking some years ago and that was one of the suggestions that we were given at a class~
We have little boys here (almost 6 and almost 3 years old)and I would be so sad to loose all of the photos of them! I hope you had friends/relatives who had some pictures that they could share with you??

I followed your comments on the thread... and think you and I would be GOOD neighbors!

Thanks again for your kind words!
:-)

Thanks

Thank you Ma'am! Take good care of those precious little ones (which I am sure you do!) as they sure do grow up fast! Our 'baby' kid is scheduled to be married next year and the years went by fast. Unfortunately, we didn't have particularly understanding relatives so few pictures came our way, but the memories sure are great and the years in between have been the best!

dumb relatives ;-)

We are trying to do our best raising these little ones in Liberal Land...did you return to SF after the fire??
If so...you MUST have some GREAT tips! :-)
(but PLEASE don't tell me to homeschool..I am a public school educator...and if I don't like the way elementary school is going...I will send them to the local Catholic School!)

some GREAT tips

You hit the nail on the head - private school all the way from kindergarten through high school. Expensive and a sacrafice? Yes, but my kids thank me for it. Even with private school, supplementing was necessary. We were very involved in the school(s) and also made sure there were tutors when necessary. Not easy, but worth the effort.
