"Ours are worth too much money to risk damaging them."

Only for the INSURANCE claims...unless they are designed to be submarines as well!

NO is now a wetland and must forever be maintained in it's present pristine condition for the sake of endangered endangered species of mold, mildew and skeeters found only in these waters and unable to survive anywhere else.

Yes is a politician. But, does not sound like a smart one.

If he wants to take on Blanco in the next gubernatorial race, this is the best time to be in action and support the relief efforts.

Oh well.

the federal government must join with the people of Louisiana to preserve America's wetlands.

Envirowhackos unite! Turn the city into a wetlands project.

Blanco: We have to hold tight, let it happen then pick up the pieces after it's all over.

Good find, too! And for a cat 4 hurricane, yet. I understand Blanco didn't even stick around, but high-tailed it to safety.

Mayor Nagin couldn't lead a buzzard to carrion. I guess Mary Landrieu belongs in the same category.

I hate when I get so cynical. But it just seems all the EOs and press releases are setting up an opportunity to rewrite history as they knew it. Their Democrat representatives are notorious for remarking on previous written statements during their hearings.

Did I miss something? Although the headline says the state is prepared, I don't see the senator actually saying that. Just like a 'Rat, plausible deniability...

From the press release:

"I would like to commend both Governor Blanco and all of the local leaders who have done a tremendous job helping the people of Louisiana prepare for Hurricane Katrina."

No, it says "helping to prepare" not that Louisiana was prepared. That's some pretty good weasel-wording she did there. Give the impression that they are prepared, and be able to point to the fact that she never really quite said that.

For instance, I can say someone is "helping me to buy a diamond ring" by giving me $5. Of course, that doesn't mean I've bought it.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 27, 2005

Sen. Landrieu Urges Preparedness As Katrina Approaches

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today urged preparedness as Hurricane Katrina continues on its path towards southeastern Louisiana.

"Southeastern Louisiana stands to be hit hard by Katrina," said Sen. Landrieu. "At this point, I strongly encourage all residents in the affected areas to follow directives given by Governor, parish presidents and local officials and take steps to protect themselves, their homes and their families.

"My staff and I stand ready to provide assistance to any constituents in need. My web site includes basic preparedness tips, important phone numbers and links to sources for additional information."

As the southern Louisiana offices could potentially be evacuated, constituents seeking help by telephone are suggested to call the Shreveport or Washington, D.C., offices:

Shreveport -- (318) 676-3085

Washington, D.C. -- (202) 224-5824

And Louisiana's unique wetlands provide our state with a buffer zone from natural disasters such as hurricanes. But our wetlands have been eroding. As I have said before, in order for us to protect America's energy supply and transportation needs, the federal government must join with the people of Louisiana to preserve America's wetlands.

Well, she doesn't have to worry about her precious wetlands eroding anymore looks like she gained a bunch.

"This is an attempt to prop up the corrupt democratic machine politics of Lousiana of which Landrieu is a part. Keep those people voting democrat is the only important thing."

And this of course, is why the Dems are being so shrill and aggressive when it comes to blaming Bush and the federal government for what happened. They control New Orleans, Louisiana has a Democratic Governor and one Dem Senator. All the Louisiana politicians are scrambling to blame the feds for LA's lack of preparedness.
