Dem Buses, Dem Buses, Dem Wet Buses

Posted on 09/04/2005 5:31:33 PM PDT by Tangerine Time Machine

Got tired of the blame game, spent a few minutes in Photoshop. A vanity satire, for your consideration.

Very good. For a second I thought Karl Rove had struck again.

I read if all the buses had been utilized (I think city + school) they could've gotten some 33,000 people out.

Yeah, the kid that stole the bus and drove it out kind of shows Nagin up as the idiot he really is.

But the school buses don't have toilets. That's why the folks in the Terrordome had to wait until all toilet-equipped Greyhound buses could be brought from the far corners of the country to drive the New Orleans poor out of town in style.

They would have gotten a lot of folks out....I figure they had at least 36 hours to move if they had decided to do so.

How far would they have had to move them? 10 miles North or more than that? Just curious as to how far away from the city they would have had to get them. Depending on that, perhaps even more could have been bused out.

JEDI.

All of those buses could have been driven onto the freeway near the Sewerdome right after the storm passed.

Someone on another thread counted more than 400 busses in the two big yards. Each of the large busses can hold up to 80 passengers. There are some short busses, but most are the large ones.

They could've moved upwards of 20,000 people per trip . . . if they could've found drivers willing to stick around. Apparently, many bus drivers, firemen, and police officers obeyed the mandatory evacuation orders. Or were they voluntary evacuation orders?
