All Three Suspects Released in case of Alabama teen missing in Aruba

All three suspects in the disappearance of an Alabama teenager were released from jail Saturday in a setback for the prosecution and the biggest blow yet to Natalee Holloway's family.

Joran van der Sloot, an 18-year-old Dutchman, and two Surinamese brothers, Satish Kalpoe, 18 and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, were released on condition they remain in Dutch territory and be available to police for questioning.

The Kalpoe brothers emerged from prison dressed in jeans, carrying black plastic bags and accompanied by their lawyers.

"It's a happy day for the Kalpoe family," said David Kock, an attorney for Satish.

At his home later, Van der Sloot came out smiling, flung an arm around his father's neck and squeezed his mother's shoulder. He did not address reporters.

"We would like to express our happiness to have Joran back in our lives," said his mother, Anita. "His life has been turned upside down."

She said her family had been the victim of "slander based on rumor and gossip. It is easy to destroy the lives of people, especially through the press."

Van der Sloot's lawyer, Richie Kock, said the teenager would soon be going to university in Holland: "Joran will be trusted to be on his own in Holland and to do as he pleases," he said. "We do not have a parole system."

As a Dutch citizen, van der Sloot is allowed to leave Aruba but must remain in Dutch territory, said Richie Kock. The Surinamese brothers must remain on the island because they have different visa requirements for traveling to other Dutch territories, said David Kock.

The missing teen's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, renewed her criticism of the investigation.

"If the investigation had been handled properly during the first 10 days, the world would not have witnessed and experienced the pain and suffering my family and I have endured," Holloway Twitty said. "For the rest of my life, I will continue to be the voice for my daughter, seeking justice in Aruba. Every parent would want the same justice for their child."

Aruba used the focus of the storm to get these people out without much outrage and press, didn't they?

Mrs. Twitty it's time for you to go home and begin again to be a mother to your young son.

He lost his sister, and for all practical purposes, he lost his mother and father too.

Way past time for her to go home to be with her son.

Mrs. Twitty should have been home 2-1/2 months ago.

Sure! The hurricane was a great diversion. Now all three scumbags can slither out, between the cracks. Just like the rats they are! I feel so sorry for the Mother.

Agreed! For her sake, and for her family's sake, go home and make the best life you can for what remains of your family, Mrs. Twitty. How sad that her killers will never be brought to justice, though.

Yup, that's my take. We're not paying attention so the heat is off, Lift Rug, Sweep.

For those of you tired of this story, how would you feel if you just lost any real chance of catching your daughters murderers?

According to an AP story, she has left Aruba.

Good for her. It's what she needs. Unfortunately, not every killer faces justice, and this appears to be one of those cases. No point in letting the killers hurt her family any more than they already have.

Not really relevant is it? Or more to the point, it never was really relevant except to those in the family and town.
A few years ago, this story would have only made the news for a day or two and then maybe a few follow-up stories.

Again, not really relevant to real life.

I look at the judicial system in Aruba and ask all these complainers and whiners in the U.S. if maybe they'd rather live in a country where your fate, be ye guilty or innocent, lies in the hands of a SINGLE judge, who maybe graduated #499 in his class OR he could be good buds with somebody rich who doesn't like you one bit. Miss Liberty may not be perfect but who is she second to?

It may take a miracle to ever find out what REALLY happened to Natalee Holloway. Her family has done all that it can in that strange judicial system. Those 3 creeps may go free - but they'll never have normal lives. They know what they did. People will be studying them...wondering.

Who's Natalee Holloway and why should I care.

On another note, I wish Greta and Shep would take a permanent vacation...to Zimbabwe.

Hopefully, things get taken care of properly down the road. Since the focus is off of the three recently released individuals, nobody will care if they are dealt with in other ways in the future.

excuse me if this sounds heartless... this evening hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens have no place to call home, thousands of others are dead or missing and our govt now faces one of the largest cleanup efforts from a natural disaster in this nation's history -- and the news is still reporting on "the disappearance" of Natalie Halloway? Are you kidding? I feel sorry for the family but I find this ridiculous.

Hoping someone brings justice to each and every one of the perps, because Aruba is not going to do it

How about calling for a national boycott of any travel to Aruba for US citizens? It's just not safe there. Especially for females.

I wouldn't bet on that.

Aruba's tourism should be devastated IMO.
This year the poor that had reservations could not afford to drop them, so Aruba saw no immediate affect on their tourism.
The next season I hope they starve.
This investigation was botched from day one and the Dutch seemed disingenuous.
