By the looks of things, they're going to get away with it. This sickens me so bad I cannot tell you. What is worse, is the defense and the denial which follows.
I suspect that's not a very good measure of the truth of a statement.
I am very embarrassed at the image American's are projecting across the world with these lawless thugs in NO. There is NO EXCUSE for this, and it ain't Bush's fault for sure. If a political party is to blame it sure isn't mine.

About the only cooboration most of this stuff has is from a woman who managed to get interviewed by CNN several times. She actually sounded like she was reading a script ~ that's pretty much a sign of being a tad psychotic.
One of the things I noticed from pictures taken by cameramen who went inside the Dome is that the trash had been maintained pretty much in piles, and people could isolate themselves from it.
When the truth comes out, you will see that the UK and Brit stories are rather melodramatic and only lightly connected to whatever the reality was.

I was going to a conference there this fall -- the organization has moved the conference (to family-friendly Orlando) and is making noises about NOLA in a subsequent year. I am going to make my vote for, the year hell freezes over.
NOLA always enjoyed being compared with Haiti. It seems like the comparison is a little too apt.
According to Army Times, soldiers took fire from looters all day. One foreign paper referred to "the insurgency." If we didn't need the port, I'd say build a wall around it and let the savages eat one another.

That 98% figure is absurd and was said in the heat of the emotions generated by the trauma.
That place certainly had a sizable gangsta element and I don't doubt the Aussies horror stories.But many of those folks in the Dome were women and kids and most likely just as worried about the anarchy as the tourists.

The conviction rate of NO for homicides and other violent crime is so abysmal that you have to figure there are an inordinate number of violent scum freely walking the streets even in the best of times.
When SirJohnBarleycorn first registered to vote in The Sportsmen's Paradise many many years ago, my grandmother offered me the following succinct guide to Louisiana politics: "If they're in, vote them out because every d**ned one of them is a crook." Oh and also, that one should register as a Democrat, because if you're a Republican they would simply throw your ballots into Lake Pontchartrain.
