White House shifts blame for Katrina response
Washington Post MSNBC ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Manuel Roig-Franzia and Spencer Hsu

Posted on 09/04/2005 11:29:44 PM PDT by onyx eyes

If I get this pasted go to the near bottom of the Washington Post article and see how K. Blanco thought it better to avoid Martial Law declared in her state than to save the lives of her people.

and - she is advised by the law firm of Clintoon's ex, former director Witt in how to avoid a "takeover"

I strongly disagree - that is a VERY dangerous path to take.

At the end of the day do you think that Mayor Nagin was hired because of his leadership abilities or because of the color of his skin.

Therein lies the problem.

Multiculturism, diversity and political correctness kill.

Or they just need a provision that lets them bag a crazy witch and federalize the whole corrupt stinkin' thing

Now THAT I like the sound of.

Please don't post unexcerpted articles as replies.

Sorry! I thought because I excerpted it, and there was no excerpt above in the first post, it was okay?

(being that it was an MSNBC excerpt of a WaPo article, another excerpt?)

MSNBC and WaPo both need excerpting, even if they're copied from alternative sources. In a nutshell, yep.

Bookmark this, we keep it updated.

I never thought it would come to this that I would want the federal government to have the means to overrule a governor... but I think they need a mechanism where the federal government can consult neighboring governors to get a consensus of the region and overrule an individual governor in a natural disaster or the like.

Actually, the mechanism was already put in place by the President: The National Response Plan.

The plan includes the following:

Standard procedures regarding requests for assistance may be expedited or, under extreme circumstances, suspended in the immediate aftermath of an event of catastrophic magnitude.

The Mayor of the Parrish is in charge of DP! There was no indication this was done.

Thank you for the link: I did know about MSNBC and WaPo... but yes, it needs bookmarking for the new adds/rules.

I actually did excerpt my reply - 1/4 of a 2 page article. Was the excerpt too long? Is that what was wrong? Or can we not post excerpts AS replies?

What? Haven't you watched TV?

Bush and Laura were on vacation watching TV as black people suffered and died.

You know Bush hates Blacks don't you?

He also refused to give money to blacks for their levees.

And he did not sign Kyoto, which he knew would kill people, and he loves killing.

There is NO spinning, it is fact.

I heard it on TV.

I didn't know for sure, you didn't post a link. If it's only a quarter, no problem, I'll restore it, but in those situations, a link is always good.

Is there any exploration of what "extreme" means?

Perhaps this had to happen so the next time, this could be invoked with "You don't want another New Orleans, do you?"

Thanks very much for the link.

Ahh... sorry. I posted an excerpt from the link that was provided for the main thread: The actual article is 2 pages long. I know you don't have the time to run off and read every source and do a word count. I promise to properly source excerpts and say that they are excerpts in not just threads but replies.

placemark, night! (and thank you again)

(properly chastened... seriously... and now I hope to retire using the word "excerpt" in all my posts for 24 hours.) :-)
