I think there are some other oddities in this story and I posted at the end of the thread about it late yesterday.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1476731/posts

I am sure there were horrors and tragedies in Katrina's path. I in no way mean to belittle these. I just think some people are trying to make political hay out of the situation.

Did I get that right?

Right as rain, and the liberal "Constituency" falls for it every time.

Yes.

At some point rhetoric crosses the line into the criminal. We are at that point and have been for some time. I Think it may be time for US citizens to demand criminal slander and libel charges for this language.

I saw a clip of this guy on the morning news...along with some ranting and crying by Celine Dion.

These people are not leaders--they are a bunch of shivering pansies.

That Aaron guy had a terribly sad story, to be sure...but that isn't the issue, in my opinion. Leadership should be shown in these times--and crying like a baby on national tv is not a sign of leadership.

This is how the Democrats will try to exploit this tragedy.

They're exploiting it every and any way they can, starting with the absurd position that the storm - or its ferocity, depending on who you're listening to - was caused by Bush not signing the Kyoto Treaty. From there it's a plethora of allegations, from slow response because of all the troops and NG deployed in Iraq, to this.

"Round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows." As long as they can make this crap up, it'll keep getting flung about, much as a monkey in a zoo, or for that matter an incarcerated terrorist at Gitmo, flings crap from its cage.

Exactly right!

If it were my mother, I'd be on a boat in a heartbeat.

On second thought... I would have never left my mother in that situation.

Something's not right here.

She said that she needed 24 hours to make a decision. It would have been great if we could have left Air Force One, walked outside and told the world that we had this all worked out. It didn't happen and more people died.

And Blanko's answer to the proposal that the Feds take charge, after meeting all night with the Dem machine, was "Hell, no!"

According to the Wapo, the reasoning was that if the Feds succeeded, it would make the local (read state) officials look bad.

Politics triumphs over concern for human life once again.

And the mayor continues to portray himself as the #1 victim of it all.

The statement from U.S. Representative William Jefferson (D-LA) was short and to the point.

"Today, federal law enforcement officers executed search warrants on my Washington, D.C. and New Orleans homes as well as my vehicle in Washington. Subpoenas were issued to me, in my official capacity, to the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives and to members of my Washington and New Orleans office staff. I do not know the extent or precise nature of this investigation but I am cooperating fully with the authorities."

The federal authorities are not talking about the reason(s) for the warrants. However, there is speculation that the search specifically relates to “ Operation Wrinkled Robe”, a federal investigation involving Jefferson’s brother-in-law Judge Alan Green who was recently convicted.

Caught this too and it was disgusting. The puke is not even much of an actor, but knew when to bring the crocodile tears on to avoid answering any questions.

"Isn't this the same useless twit that was on Meet The Press whining about how his own emergency manager kept telling his mother that "help was on the way" and then responded by waiting for the feds instead of organizing his own damned rescue?"

Yep. Aaron Broussard deserves to be nominated for best supporting actor performance of the year for his few seconds of bawling, crying, sobbing. And yes, it WAS "Absolutely disgraceful."

"Witt was already on Team Blanco"

Pocketed a nice hunk of tax payer sweat and blood too for a plan that resulted in tax payer sweat and blood.

"Democrat Head of Jefferson Parish Accuses Federal Government of "Murdering" Thousands"

So what's new. Another day, another democrat, another deflection of blame avoiding the states responsibility for preplanned evacuation exits.

Governor Blanco was in over her head until she issued a shoot to kill order and hired Witt the former FEMA director

Blanco is still way over her head.

Witless has been hired as a PR stunt to blame the Feds and cover her sorry rear end.

He was a consultant for the state on hurricane evacuation procedures in '04, so he also gets to cover his own sorry butt.

Blanco is all show and no dough.

I am getting the distinct impression a lot of Louisiana officials are eventually heading off to the hoosegow when the facts come out about where all the bus loads of federal Homeland Security Planning Fund cash sent down to Louisiana comes to light. They sure weren't spent on planning or new equipment

As the old lawyer wisdom goes, "When the facts are on your side, pound the facts. When the law is on your side, pound the law. When neither is on your side, pound the table!" For some reason, they are pounding the table, hard. I don't think it is just to cover up their unfathomable incompetence.

The upcoming Congressional investigations on this disaster are going to be interesting.

Isn't this the same parish that has armed police promising to shot anyone who tries to escape that direction?

The essence of his rant was that the federal government in general and FEMA in particular are "covering their butts" by concealing the number of dead.

If anyone is concealing the number of dead, it is Nagin.

Haley Barbour of Mississippi had numbers the very first day after the hurricane hit, and those numbers were updated on a daily basis as more became known.

It was Nagin who hedged about the number of dead. First, they said "none" (which seemed odd), then it was "around 100", then it was "hundreds, perhaps thousands."

Really becoming tiresome listening to these commie-marxist-socialist cockroaches bang their gums incessantly with over-the-top commentary and outrageous hyperbolic statements when "reporting" the "news" on TV.

Potato-boy on NBC had this Brousard moron on his "Meet the Leftists" program Sunday morning .... apparently he and the NBC network just could not wait to get the facts before allowing yet another incompetent local government official yammer for 30 minutes.

Message #23 is especially interesting.
