Somewhere (Boston and other places) firearms have been banned in "the projects."

That was a relic of the Clinton Administration. Those projects are built with federal funds and are often subject to federal gun laws. I don't know if the federal public housing gun ban was rescinded or not.

Cindy, thanks for the ping.

My parents live south of Jackson MS about 60 miles. When Katrina went through they lost their power. My brother (who lives next door to them) got them a generator and a window air unit so they could escape the heat. Gasoline was a serious problem though, none was available at any price. He (my brother) drove to Monroe, LA and bought 200-250 gallons and was on his way home when he encountered a serviceman's wife and child out of gas, on the side of the road. He stopped and filled her car up so she could get home to her family. As he was getting ready to resume his trip home a man pulled over in front of him and demanded gas. My brother told him that he had none to spare , and the guy said "oh yes you do, and I am going to take it". At this point my brother lifted his shirt revealing his .45, told the guy that if he didn't leave he wouldn't be needing any gas. Having a change of heart, the guy left.

I also had two "gentlemen" who were going to relieve me of my families gas supply that I had for our generator. At the sound of the ole Mossberg 590 chambering a 00 buckshot round, they left. I didn't even get close enough to them to be able to identify them. (It was about 3:30 am)

Nothing says "go rob someone else" like the Mossberg 590!

Cordially,
GE

A Remington 870 is a close second, but I agree, the Mossbergs make a little more of a clatter. More torsional instability with one slide rail on the fore-end tube instead of two, I think.

A Remington 870

I've never owned one but I understand they are a fine weapon!
