Although probably only one of many stories, the small town (15,000) of Lebanon, Tn. is preparing to take in some 2,000 Hurricane victims. After already sending thousands of dollars and truckloads of relief goods to Mississippi, Alabama and Lousiana, Lebanon has been asked to house as many as 2,000 people. Lebanon has responded in heoric fashion.
A warehouse has been opened which local citizens are in the process of filling with food. A meeting will take place at 10:00 AM, Tuesday comprised of all city officials and representatives from every church in the county. Another large warehouse has been opened to receive the arrivals. A system has been put in place to then disperse them to the various church fellowship halls where the members of the congregation will all become unpaid volunteers.
As soon as possible, individual families will be moved into private homes, dosens of which have already have already been made avail by families willing to take in guest. More are being voluntared hourly as the citizens read the local paper and listen to the local news. The efforts of this small town are truly representaive of the best of America.
Although the town is almost entirely white they are preparing for the arrival of almost 2,000 people, most of which are black. The color of skin is not important in Lebanon, but the needs of the victims. This entire effort is being financed by the citizens of Lebenan with no outside assistance.
As a freeper who is very proud of my hometown I have taken it upon myself to post this article. If the are freepers out there that would like to help this small town with monitary contributions send checks to the Wilson Bank and Trust, P. O. Box 768, Lebanon, Tn. 37088-0768. Mark the check for the Lebanon Hurricane Relief Fund.
There is absolutly no administrative expense in this effort. To the man and woman, every worker is an unpaid volunteer. Every penny reseived will go directly to the victims.
If you are able to help Lebanon, Tennessee, this Freeper will be eternally greatful.
My uncle who just passed away used to work in Lebanon, TN.

Imagine the shock for these people when they realize "Whitey" isnt the one "keeping the man down"... it is their black leaders.
God Bless
Please help keep this thread alive and near the top.
What a wonderful story! We need to see THIS on the news.
The little town of Perry, OK (pop: 5200, 60mi N of OKC) is working day and night to clean and furnish an unoccupied nursing home there for Katrina survivors. They're busy cleaning, painting, moving in furniture and appliances... dozens of people, literally shoulder to shoulder.
Hope the people who relocate to these cities, big and small, repay their kindness by becoming good citizens and neighbors wherever they go.
Fort Smith, AR, is taking some 5,000 into the old Fort Chafee location.

Don't expect to see any residents of NO in the Upper East Side of Manhattan or in the Hamptons with the limousine liberals.
We have a bunch in Mountain Home, too, though not the numbers that Ft. Smith has. There are more coming in all the time.

Thanks so much for posting this. This is the kind of open-heartedness that Americans have always had, and we've seen so little of in the old whining media. The residents of Lebanon, TN, and thousands of others stand tall.
Thank you
