A billion dollar white elephant that lasted just 30 years. Thank Edwin Edwards, Carlos Marcello, Moon Landrieu and all the rest of the LA Mafia for this wonderful place. Now if only the LA Dems would come crashing down, the state could enter the modern world
That's part of the package - according to the San Antonio Express newspaper.
yes... he who furnishes the gold makes the rules. they want a new dome, they should raise the money themselves. state bonds, whatever, but not a dime from congress beyond what would be needed to fix up the old dome. first order of business for us tax money spent there should be to control the water situation in NOLA as best as humanly possible.
" (assuming the Saints don't skip town on them)"
Reported on WDSU Sunday, the Saints are gone. A high placed exec said they are looking for bidders in San Antonio or L.A. will never retun to NO
Any Oakland Raider fans still inside the building? :P
i wonder how much of that is speculation and how much of that was actually stated by the saints.
If what I've read about the gruesome happenings inside the dome is true, then I would like to see the dome demolished and all traces removed from the earth.
A monument? Then let us build monuments to anarchy--to murderers, theives, rapists, and child molesters--let us build monuments to hell.
Research the history on http://www.nola.com ...
it's very real and according to Sean Salsbury; "It will happen very soon. Once the dome is confirmed to be demolished, it's lights out in The Big Easy."
They all need to keep dreaming.
"Taxpayers will pay $300 million for a new stadium...courtesy of the Federal Government"
Where's your sense of fairness? That stadium was built with $1 BILLION in 1970 dollars. Edwin Edwards is spinning in his jail cell at that suggestion.
I can't say that isn't a bad idea. fresh start, faciliites in place, in a state that is football crazy (2nd only to Ohio)...
Monuments to the storm victims, not the criminals (in some cases persons may have been both, but we don't know that). Sufficiently broad wording should cover the sum of all the tragic deaths that occurred citywide in the immediate wake of hurricane Katrina - not just in the Dome. As for the criminals themselves, let them go down to ignominy, unless they repent.
If they actually said county, they have established that they don't know what they are talking about.
The next 'dome will be on pontoons.
How do you search in their news stories?
I did find a recent editorial in Times-Picayune pleading with the Saints to refurbish the Dome as a sign of triumph over the times.
We didn't and can't. You'll see a quick-as-you-please referendum . . . and a hellava fight over it, as always . . . but in the end, the San Antonio Charros will get their new playpen. Toyota will buy the naming rights to go right along with the new plant.
Heck, the governor will call the legislature back into special session to make it all constitutional. This is Texas Friday-Night-Lights football lovin country.
The Alamo Dome isn't even up to major college standards for a football stadium.
The Alamodome will be hasta-la-bye-bye, pretty darn quick.
And if you are trying to suggest that SA doesn't have any corrupt politicians or under the table deals ....
We don't. They're all in federal and state prisons or on probation.
Oh . . . I got it . . . you mean them replacement players. Wael, they're just rookie crooks. They don't matter . . . yet.
Are there any photos of the inside of the
Superdome since the people left it?
