The city of NO desires the federal government to pay for a new building is all this is about. The folks with flooded homes and businesses who can get back to them and don't have proper insurance for flooding are burning them down. Lawyers are rounding up evacuees and making a list for what will surely be a class action suit for reparations like those seen in the 9-11 disaster.

One can go on and on how this third world niche in the USA are making every effort to "get over" on the rest of us because of a natural disaster. They are owed, just ask them.

Doesn't make any sense, but what do I know. Unless there is structural damage I can't imagine the expense is warranted.

Who paid for the Dome? Was it a taxpayer backed bond? Is the insurance company paying replacement cost?

Gee, wonder if they'll named this new stadium after the Gov to honor her courage and leadership in this crisis?

Well, they already named a "play" after her. They call it a HAIL MARY, throw it up and pray.

"FR does have that "Damn right, I'll cast the first stone" mentality too often."

You are right, though.

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- The manager of New Orleans' Superdome rejects a report it will be razed because of damage from Hurricane Katrina, saying the arena is structurally sound.

Doug Thornton, who manages the building for SMG, the company contracted to operate the 30-year-old stadium, said no one can make such a judgment so soon, the Baton Rouge Advocate reported Wednesday.

A news report quoted an unnamed person speaking for Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco that the state likely would raze the building, the Advocate said.

Thornton said damage is extensive from Katrina and the toll of housing more than 20,000 frustrated hurricane survivors for several days.

However, he said, "To say it's going to be torn down, to me you cannot make that assessment as this point."

Thornton said he thinks the building is structurally sound. He said he is the only Superdome official to have inspected the building, home of the NFL New Orleans Saints.
