WOW! , Thats a stretch, you obviously have no idea how a big city like N.O. or any city for that matter attracts commerce and revenue and how important a new DOME and Convention center will play a huge part in that. You think a company like Microsoft or IBM or Ford Motor Company is going to hold an event in that thing anytime soon ??????

If people who are in the know, (not amateur speculators such as we) deem it is worth salvaging, I don't think anyone would have a problem There have been murders in many big convention centers. OTOH, if people decide to tear it down, that is ook with me. I woould enter either the old or the new if they are healthy.
Honestly, I thought you were afraid to go into a building where someone had committed a criminal or other violent act.

In a roundabout way, the precedent for this has already been set with the Browns-Ravens. More than likely, the NFL will allow the Saints to move, possibly retaining the Saints name. The "Saints" can head to San Antonio, Los Angeles, Memphis, Birmingham, or Orlando--just as something other than the "Saints".
When and if New Orleans ever gets its act together and builds a new stadium, the NFL would award an expansion franchise and the Saints name to the new team.

"And the Chargers are going to lose to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday."Bolts over the 'Boys by a score of 31-20 this Sunday. The SD offense is already firing on all cylinders and Tomlinson is completely healthy again. I know, it's tough being a former dynasty. We suffered too in the post-Fouts era.

but that still leaves the Sugar Bowl.... They could move it to Baton Rouge. Tiger stadium has over 90,000 seats.

More likely water undermining the foundations. Nothing inside the Dome that a cleanup crew couldn't put right in a few weeks time. But there's more money for Blanco to skim if a whole new stadium is built.

I know alot will disagree but I believe the old saying, once they move in there goes the neighborhood.

San Antonio must have promised to build them a new stadium. The Alamo Dome isn't even up to major college standards for a football stadium. It has horrible sight lines, and it had to get exemptions due to the rail road tracks adjacent to it. No shipments of hazardous cargoes are allowed while events are taking place.

Who would want to go there after this? Probably would make good landfill anyway. The 80% of N.O. that was underwater should be bulldozed and made into a national landmark. The alligators, birds and other wild life can do their natural thing and people can relocate about 75 miles north where they aren't likely to be flooded out again. I have yet to talk to anyone where I live who believes that more money ought to be poured into N.O. only to have another hurricane flood it. Just bringing the levees up to Category 5 standards will take decades and about $50 billion. Just bulldoze it and be done with.

Update from MSNBC:
The Louisiana Superdome was so heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath that it likely will have to be torn down, CNN.com reported Tuesday, citing a a spokesperson for Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.
Katrina sheared away much of the roof's covering, and water leaked into the stadium when it was used as a shelter for thousands of stranded residents.
The home of the New Orleans Saints is also the site of the annual Sugar Bowl and has hosted such events as the Super Bowl and college basketball's Final Four.

Better to have been a dynasty than to never have tasted that sweet nectar of Vince Lombardy Trophies.

"Better to have been a dynasty than to never have tasted that sweet nectar of Vince Lombardy Trophies."LOL...that's true. We had a great offensive team back in 1980 with Fouts, Winslow, Chandler, and Joiner and they were probably the second best team in the league that year. But they didn't have enough defense to beat the Raiders in the AFC championship game. Then the Raiders went on to defeat Philly in the Super Bowl. Well maybe this year we can be outstanding in all phases of the game and win it all.

Are the Saints the team which started with a kickoff return from a TD -- meaning first play in team history? That's how the Aints started their history (John Gilliam did the honors), but the Dolphins IIRC, with Joe Auer, did the same thing to begin *their* first game - a year earlier. The Phins took the field in 1966, the Saints in 1967.

Tiger Stadium is the perfect place for the Sugar Bowl and the Saints. And there are lots of people up there who would attend games.
