I think, considering the amount of garbage and human wastes that 20,000 scared people can generate in a week's time, the Super Dome is probably closer to a Toxic Waste dump than a football field.....

LA has a team, they're called the Chargers.

I wonder the NFL doesn't ask the Saints to play in Los Angeles for this season. The Coliseum is there, and they haven't had a football team in a while. I suppose there area "readiness" concerns but how crowded would it be for them to try and play at LSU during regular college football season.

I don't know about that.

As much as the NFL wants to be back in LA, if it isn't the Raiders, I think the NFL owners will be gun-shy.

Well, it also doesn't fit in with certain Freepers (and some in the media) who have a drumbeat of their own to "nuke" the city. They won't get their wish, but it doesn't stop them.

That was not my understanding at all...or what I saw in the pictures. I did not see major underlying structural damage in the roof, just superficial damage on the exterior. If this is true, please point me to reports or pictures of the same.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Los Angeles Saints! The outcry.. Bush will be blamed for stealing the NFL team away from the poor.

possibly...

but I think that since San Antonio has also been screaming for an NFL team for years now, and the fact that the Saints owner has been looking to relocate to SA anyway, that this year would be a great trial run.

Yes. It had been discussed on some of the sports segments of our local news. This might be a blessing in disguise for those who wanted the new stadium.

So long as they don't rebuild it. Any city want a football team?

There IS NO MONEY FOR BUILDING A TEAM A STADDIUM.

Hell, there "wasn't" money to keep the levees and pumps maintained.

Too far to drive for a game. I guess I'll just gave to hope Phil Jackson makes my Laker season a little more interesting this year.

Taxpayers will pay $300 million for a new stadium...courtesy of the Federal Government.

Just think. they could have used the money they spent on this stadium to strengthen the levies.

One guy who sits on the Board of Directors is making this noise. Structural engineers and the like have had no time to thoroughly analyze the Dome.

NFL is not for Joe middle class anymore. When it goes to pay per view I am pulling the plug.

Well I think the punchline is that they've been looking for an excuse. It's an antiquated stadium now that the Saints owner has been complaining should be replaced for a while (and threatening to move if it wasn't), so the minute that hole appeared I think all the crooked parties involved saw a solution to their problem.

A lot more than a SMALL portion of the roof.

Gov Blanco's pet project when she was LtGov was getting a new sports stadium. Gee, wonder if they'll named this new stadium after the Gov to honor her courage and leadership in this crisis?

FEMA will cut them a check to pay for a complete rebuild. Just wait and see.
