Good points but I still think the FEMA guy's head should roll.

there is no place for second-guessing during an emergency No, but we ought to watch how things develop, how long it takes, what it costs, in the light of what might happen if some of these threatened WMD attacks are carried out. One city rendered uninhabitable does this, what about three cities simultanously? NO had a couple days warning. There has been four years warning for these other things.

Politicians should sit down and be quiet until called upon. Let the military do what it does so well - organize and secure. Let the engineers and tecnical experts do their jobs. Keep the funds, food, and fresh water coming.
Thank you Mr. President. Thanks to our armed forces. May God bless them and protect them all.

For the record, Civil Defense tells people that they should have 3 days supply of water on food on hand, because it can take FEMA that long to get supplies to the disaster area. People--individuals and families--should have been better prepared if at all possible. If you take anything to a shelter, take a backpack of food and water. Evacuate when there is still time. Don't wait for the government to do everything!
