'DOCS IN SOCKS' BERGER RAPPED

WASHINGTON — The feds yesterday recommended that former Clinton National Security Adviser Sandy Berger get at least a year's probation and do community service — but no jail time — for stealing top-secret memos and lying about it.

Berger pleaded guilty last April to taking the documents — and reportedly hiding them in his pants and socks — from the National Archives while vetting them to refresh his memory before testifying before the 9/11 commission.

He's to be sentenced tomorrow.

The memos were versions of a report that Berger ordered on the millennium bombing plot. ...

So, does this mean anyone can go into the National Archives and take things with only the threat of probation hanging over them? I bet there are lots of neat stuff that would fetch a good price on ebay.... or the Chinese Embassy.

And exactly what community service is this pant load qualified to perform? I'll answer my own question. The only thing he is qualified to do is teach a class in junior college entitled "How to become a political whore and wear a $900 dollar suit." This steaming pile is disgusting.

at least as much as the Watergate burglars - if he brought a razor blade into that NARA reading room and stole documents according to Society of American Archivists standards that was BURGLARY of the peoples property.

Didn't Martha Stewart get 5 months for lying about some stock transactions that weren't even found to be illegal?

Shouldn't the penalty for stealing and destroying classified documents and then lying about it receive a slightly larger sentence?
